Antony Sun Liwanag, of San Francisco, faces two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection to an incident that took place in St Louis Park on July 2, 2026, according to court documents obtained by FOX 9. The unidentified woman told police that she was in town for a co-workers wedding, and before the event, she attended a gathering at a local bar. Liwanag, who is also her coworker, attended the party as well, and invited her out to another bar while he was there, the outlet reported. She agreed to do so and the two of them went to another location, where they sat at a table toward the back while Liwanag, 33, retrieved drinks for them, records stated. But after consuming several drinks, the woman said she started 'feeling out of it and very intoxicated,' and told authorities that she believed her drinks had been spiked, the report said. The woman also said that at one point during the night, Liwanag started to kiss her without her consent and that she attempted to push him away and tell him no, according to the charges. Liwanag, who previously worked for the AI research laboratory Google DeepMind, then reached under the woman's dress and touched her with his fingers while she was stuck between him and a wall, the documents read. The two of them were then captured on hotel surveillance footage, as the woman, who appeared extremely impaired, clearly could not walk on her own, documents said. Liwanag was then seen picking her up and carrying her to her room, and at one point he dragged her to the elevator as she appeared to go limp, the charges alleged. Once inside the hotel room, Liwanag allegedly attempted to sexually assault her again, according to prosecutors. The woman was able to push him away and resist his actions, the charges said. The woman returned home the next day and did not attend the wedding, the documents stated. Authorities have requested a warrant for Liwanag's arrest because they believe he is a danger to public safety, the charges said.
