For the Left, the issue isn’t the issue. The issue is the revolution

A “red-green alliance” of Marxist and Islamist groups works together with foreign governments as it seeks to weaken America by disrupting everyday life, even our democratic process. And they do so in the name of any cause under the sun.That was the gist of the testimony I was asked to give last week by a subcommittee of the House of Representatives. It drives the Left wild, but the evidence that what I like to call the omnicause is too strong to ignore.And to prove my point, the gadflies of CodePink decided to show up at the hearing and use it for propaganda purposes. They were deservedly tossed out by Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-MI), the chairman of the Subcommittee on South and Central Asia of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. It was the second time in a week that the Marxist agitprop group had inadvertently helped make my case. Seven days earlier, another CodePink militant interrupted a talk I was giving at the Institute of World Politics and started shouting slogans.CodePink does things in the real world so it can then showcase them in its preferred universe, the virtual reality of the internet. There, it breathlessly posts material that helps it raise funds from its puppet masters in Shanghai and elsewhere.Thus, CodePink posted across all its social media accounts the interruption by its Washington coordinator, Olivia DiNucci, whom Fox News’s Asra Nomani described as “a fresh-faced former college basketball star.” I looked up where DiNucci played ball, and it was, of all places, at my undergraduate alma mater, Emerson College. Her interruption can be seen on Instagram here.But it was what DiNucci squealed as security carried her out that caught my ear: “There is global solidarity with Cuba, and Gaza, and against ICE here!” I couldn’t help thinking, as I watched this spectacle, “There it is! The omnicause.”The members of the red-green alliance, you see, will take to the streets, occupy college buildings and quads, and invade congressional hearings, whatever the issue de jour is: Gaza, Black Lives Matter, Cuba, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the environment, Venezuela, social justice, Iran, etc.As David Horowitz used to say, “the issue is never the issue, the issue is the revolution.” It is all an excuse to weaken and then dismantle the United States and the West. The agitators openly say that this is their goal all the time, by the way.Last week at the House subcommittee hearing, the interruption was led by none other than CodePink’s co-founder, Medea Benjamin. As I came into the hearing room, Benjamin started questioning me about Cuba, whose attempts to subvert the U.S. have gone on for the 67 years of the communist dictatorship’s existence, one of the topics I would raise for the members of Congress. As I said to a rolling camera, “I’m telling Medea Benjamin that she should try to stop shilling for a communist tyranny.”I did because Benjamin, who lived in Havana for years in the 1980s, is a well-known apologist for Cuba’s dictators. But to be fair, CodePink is an equal-opportunity shill for all the foreign supporters and sponsors of the red-green alliance. It has organized dozens of trips by activists not just to Cuba, but to China, Iran, Venezuela, and Gaza.Her exchange with me is not what got Benjamin tossed, however. She wore a pink CodePink T-shirt reading “NO WAR IN IRAN,” and was accompanied by a CodePink comrade wearing a shirt reading “SANCTIONS KILL.” References to both the Islamic Republic of Iran and to communist Cuba, so both the omnicause and the Red-Green Alliance.Iran, though mentioned by Huizenga once, was incidentally not brought up by me or any of the other three witnesses. These were two others who, like me, were invited by the majority and spoke about a CodePink funder with close contacts in the Chinese Communist Party, Neville Roy Singham.Benjamin was seated behind us and was thus front and center in the official congressional feed. It was when she started taking photos of the congressional screen, so she could feed them to the CodePink propaganda machine and make it travel the globe, that Huizenga, watching this developing circus from the chairman’s chair, decided he’d had enough. He stopped the proceedings and demanded that Capitol Police escort the CodePinkers out. He was not going to let the hearing become part of CodePink’s propaganda.One destination for Benjamin’s content was surely an office in Shanghai, the coastal Chinese metropolis where Singham lives and from where he helps his Chinese hosts exploit the open U.S. system by pulling strings and financing groups such as CodePink.There, we are reliably informed by the great Network Contagion Research Institute and others, Singham shares premises with Shanghai Maku Cultural Communications, a firm constantly churning out Chinese propaganda, especially to what communists call “the Global South.”Singham served for eight years as a “strategic technical adviser” to China’s tech giant Huawei, which China uses to spy on other countries by having its servers send data nightly to Shanghai. In 2017, Singham sold his Chicago software consultancy, Thoughtworks, for $785 million and now uses the proceeds to set up nonprofit organizations that funnel money to the group of militant U.S.-based groups known as the Singham network.That same year, Singham married another CodePink co-founder, Jodie Evans, in Jamaica. Since that blessed event, CodePink — surprise, surprise — has ceased all criticism of China’s communist government. For the past nine years, the group has become a mouthpiece for Beijing and has nothing to say about China’s repression.Here’s how some of the money is spent, according to Fox News Digital: $167.5 million to People’s Support Foundation, a Chicago-based nonprofit group that has Evans on its board and funnels money to overseas projects $68.7 million to Justice and Education Fund Inc., a New York-based nonprofit group that funnels grants to left-wing causes domestically and overseas $22.44 million to the People’s Forum (more about that below) $16.76 million to the Tricontinental Institute for Social Research, named after both the Tricontinental Conference, where Fidel Castro convened Third World leaders and terrorists in 1966, and the Frankfurt School that turned Marxism cultural in the mid-20th century, based in Massachusetts and led by the Indian communist Vijay Prashad, “who led a session on the future of Marxism at Singham’s wedding to Evans” $1.33 million to CodePink, based in California $1.098 million to BreakThrough BT Media, a New York-based propaganda machine that repeats propaganda by China, Cuba, Russia, Iran, and Palestinians and is used to amplify information about the marches and protests on U.S. soil. Some of these groups, and others funded by Singham, form part of Shut It Down for Palestine, a red-green coalition of seven groups, three of which are Marxist and the other four Islamists. Their marches have blocked access to critical infrastructure chokeholds in U.S. cities, such as the Brooklyn Bridge and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.The People’s Forum, a member of SID4P, sits at the center of many of the protests and outright riots we have seen in America in the past few years. On Sept. 28, 2024, the People’s Forum convened a fundraiser at the Apollo Theater in New York, where the Cuban and Venezuelan foreign ministers, Bruno Rodriguez and Ivan Gil Pinto, addressed activists.RIGHT-WING SOCIALISM WON’T WIN ELECTIONSThere, speaking just over a month before the presidential election, the foreign minister of Cuba said, “A better world is possible, but vote to achieve it.”What to do about any of this is harder to divine than merely diagnosing the problem. But we do have a problem with malign foreign influencers who use the omnicause to weaken us.
