FKA Twigs has settled her lawsuit with ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf, with a judge ruling that the English singer will no longer be silenced via a nondisclosure agreement, according to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail. 'In resolution of this action, Defendant Shia LaBeouf has agreed that the non-disclosure provisions (NDAs) contained in the parties’ June 2025 settlement of the 2020 lawsuit are terminated and void; this action has therefore achieved its purpose,' the Los Angeles Superior Court filing states. The document also pointed out that the NDA violated California’s Stand Together Against Non-Disclosure Act, a 2018 law that bans confidentiality and nondisclosure provisions in settlement agreements involving sexual assault, sexual harassment and sex-based discrimination. A sworn declaration submitted by the author of the STAND ACT, Senator Connie M. Leyva, in May reaffirmed this stance. The settlement also noted that Twigs, 38, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, is now 'free to discuss her own experience and to speak about and support the charitable and other causes of her choosing without fear of reprisal.'In a statement to the Daily Mail, the musician's attorney Mathew Rosengart - who famously represented Britney Spears in her conservatorship case - said: 'Twigs stood up for something larger than herself, female survivors of sexual abuse. FKA Twigs, real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett, has settled her lawsuit with ex Shia LaBeouf Per the settlement, LaBeouf, 40, agreed that their nondisclosure agreement is 'terminated and void''This victory frees her to discuss her experience, advocate for other women who might be less privileged, and support the charitable causes of her choice.'In a statement to the Daily Mail, LaBeouf's lawyer Shawn Holley said: 'Shia wishes Twigs nothing but the best in her life and career and, to that end, has agreed to end their long-standing dispute. Twigs has spoken about this matter for years and there is now nothing to prevent her from continuing to do so.'The settlement concluded by stating that it 'represents an important victory for the principle that women who speak out about sexual abuse should not be silenced by NDAs that contravene California law.'FKA twigs is proud to be able to continue speaking about her experience and advocating for other women, including those who may lack the resources to speak out and defend themselves.'An additional court filing on Monday shows that the case is set to be officially dismissed at a hearing on December 4 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse.Twigs first filed this lawsuit against LaBeouf in March, claiming he 'tried to control Tahliah Barnett for the better part of a decade.'Rosengart further explained at the time that the legal 'action was taken in response to Mr. LaBeouf’s attempt to bully and intimidate FKA Twigs through a frivolous and unlawful secret arbitration he filed against her in December in which he sought to extract money from her.' Twigs' lawyer told the Daily Mail: 'This victory frees her to discuss her experience, advocate for other women who might be less privileged, and support the charitable causes of her choice'Twigs and LaBeouf, who met on set of the film Honey Boy, dated for about nine months from mid-2018 until May or June of 2019.The Cellophane singer then sued the Transformers star in 2020 for sexual battery, assault and emotional distress. She claimed he 'knowingly gave her an STD' and subjected her to a 'continuous stream of verbal and mental abuse.'LaBeouf denied Twigs' allegations but acknowledged to The New York Times at the time that he had 'a history of hurting the people closest to' him.'I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel,' he said. 'I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations.'I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years... I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt.'The 2020 lawsuit ended with an out-of-court settlement on July 23, 2025, and all claims were dismissed with prejudice. Twigs, 38, and LaBeouf dated for about nine months from 2018 to 2019. Following their split, the English singer alleged in a 2020 lawsuit that the actor had been abusive to her. LaBeouf denied the claims and the exes settled out of court Twigs filed her latest lawsuit against LaBeouf after he sought money from her due to an alleged violation of their previous settlement agreement when she gave an interview to The Hollywood ReporterLast December, LaBeouf demanded money from Twigs, claiming she had breached their settlement in a fall 2025 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. This forced Twigs to respond with her latest suit.Throughout this case, LaBeouf has found himself in more legal turmoil. He was arrested in New Orleans on February 17 on two counts of misdemeanor battery after allegedly getting into a bar fight. The Disturbia star was then arrested later in February on a misdemeanor simple battery charge, which was reportedly related to the same incident. In June he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery charges in connection with his altercation at a New Orleans bar during Mardi Gras and received two years of supervised probation and a six-month suspended jail sentence.
