Marisha Ray joins Matt Mercer and Travis Willingham for the conclusion of the trilogy Image: Square Enix Sign in to your Polygon.com account The cast of Critical Role continues to take over Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. During a panel at New York Comic Con, Square Enix announced that Marisha Ray would be lending her talents to a new version of Shiva for the third installment of the remake trilogy. Ray will be joining fellow Critical Role co-stars Matt Mercer, who voices Vincent Valentine, and Travis Willingham, who takes over the role of Sephiroth from Tyler Hoechlin. You can get a sneak peek at Ray's work on Revelation in a clip Square Enix posted on Instagram. It reveals that she will portray Polydroid Shiva, a seemingly digitized version of the iconic ice summon from the series, rather than the in-combat summon. Polydroid Shiva appears to run the Gold Saucer's snowboarding mini-game, confirming that the fan-favorite feature from the 1997 original will be playable. The clip shows Polydroid Shiva urging Vincent to show off his snowboarding skills to prove himself. Ray and Mercer are married, and the two unsurprisingly have great chemistry. Mercer revealed during the panel that he was initially worried Ray was a nepotism hire, but the team told him they had no idea she was his wife. "That's right, you earned that, baby," Mercer shouted to Ray, who was seated in the front row. Other reveals from the NYCC Final Fantasy 7 Revelation panel Image: Square Enix The panel focused heavily on the cast of the game and their experience wrapping up work on the trilogy. Another clip from Square Enix offers a look inside the final recording sessions for the game. Both Briana White and Britt Baron, the voices of Aerith and Tifa respectively, are brought to tears, with Baron saying it was "the role of a lifetime." The conclusion to the trilogy is sure to be an equally emotional affair for players. Square Enix has surprised fans by playing with the original game's plot and the team is keeping tight-lipped about any potential final twists. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be released on April 8, 2027.
