Feuding rock legends’ nepo-baby kids in rivalry of their own as they share stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals

LIAM GALLAGHER and Chris Martin have rarely seen eye-to-eye. Now that rivalry can cross to the next generation — as their sons have to share a stage at Reading and Leeds this weekend. Two hours later, Liam’s youngest son Gene will take his band Villanelle onto the same stage. Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! Just one act separates them, and both bands will have to repeat their sets in Leeds the following day. If Gene has any of his dad’s feistiness, some comments are sure to be made. The Oasis rocker previously said the Coldplay frontman “looks like a Geography teacher,” compared him to a vicar, and said the band’s fans were “bedwetters.” They eventually made up when they performed together at Ariana Grande’s One Love Manchester benefit concert in 2017, but there is still plenty of competition between the two mega bands. After Oasis announced a massive seven-show run at Wembley Stadium last year, Coldplay swooped in and said they would do ten. Gene and Moses won’t be the only nepo babies who will be rocking out the sister festivals this weekend. Meanwhile, fresh from the release of his debut EP Wear & Tear on Friday, the Beckhams’ youngest son Cruz plays Reading on Saturday and Leeds on Sunday. Their bookings have ruffled a few feathers, as the The Canopy stage has this year replaced the BBC Introducing stage, which was created to champion rising stars and new talent. Even though they’ve worked hard, the optics of having a load of established acts’ offspring performing there aren’t great. But I’m looking forward to seeing which of them can draw the biggest crowd. There were family connections at All Points East Festival in London on Saturday, too. The Beatles biopic stars Paul Mescal and Harris Dickinson watched Paul’s sister Nell and Harris’s girlfriend Rose Gray play their sets. LIAM’S FOUR-LETTER GLASTO BLAST LIAM has never been a man to mince his words. And he didn’t hold back when it was claimed on X that Oasis were the bookies favourites to headline Glastonbury next year. Liam clapped back: “It’s not happening. So all you croc wearing, flag waving, s**t c**ts can calm the f**k down.” Us lot, and Oasis’s millions of loyal fans are now waiting for next year’s run of shows to be announced. And Liam couldn’t help but drop a hint about getting back on stage with his brother Noel, telling one of his fans: “If we do any more gigs we’re gonna lick it up to ras.” Bring it on. The Swedish songstress was beaming at All Points East Festival in London’s Victoria Park on Saturday, where she was joined on stage by PinkPantheress to sing their collaboration Stateside for the very first time. And it wasn’t just the audience – which included Love Island winners Lorenzo Alessi and Julia Majchrzak – having fun, as Zara admitted: “I feel like this might be the best show of the whole summer.” It was a special night for headliner Lorde too, who was accompanied by her producer boyfriend Jim E-Stack. She said: “The last time I was at Victoria Park was two years ago. “It was the beginning of summer and I came here with someone I had a really big crush on. “He’s here tonight. So bring your crush to Victoria Park. There’s some magic here.” JAZZ BEAT LOOMS FOR TRAV Travis Barker reckons he will get into jazz when Blink 182 eventually split up Credit: Getty TRAVIS BARKER reckons he will get into jazz when Blink 182 eventually split up. He said: “It’s coming, later. I would love to but I feel like it’s when Blink is done, and all that stuff is done.” Asked when Blink will be “done,” he added: “It’s hard to say. Our band is really healthy right now and I’m stoked for that. But I’ve also learned with our band that you just never know. “I want to keep writing and producing music. I also would love to work on another solo album that’s genre-less.” On the And The Writer Is… podcast, Travis, inset, also gave his thoughts on AI. He said: “I hate it. I’m not a fan. I think my new rules in the studio is no auto-tune, little to no editing, and no drum samples, because there’s already going to be enough of that.” HUGEL’s Movin’ To The Sun has spent weeks climbing the charts and is now poised to challenge Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s Rein Me In for the top spot. Early data from Official Charts shows that the French DJ’s summer tune has climbed up to No2 and is a contender to end the pair’s 22-week run at No1. STAR CATE IS RIDE ON TIME Cate Blanchett is staying down to earth during her run in Electra/Persona by commuting on bike Credit: Getty CATE BLANCHETT is staying down to earth during her run in Electra/Persona by commuting on bike. The Aussie actress is starring in the play at the National Theatre on London’s South Bank and has been spotted coming to and from the venue on a fold-up bike. She is worth £70million, so I wouldn’t blame her for splashing the cash on a cab to and from her home. But the sight of her pedalling off down the street has certainly amused her fans at the stage door. Credit: Getty PIXIE LOTT turned down a new TV series because she’d committed to playing screen legend Marilyn Monroe in the play Who Killed Marilyn?. The singer has had rave reviews for her turn as the Hollywood star at London’s Emerald Theatre, but ran out of time for the other offer. Pixie, who has also been juggling concerts and raising her two young sons, told me of her acting desires: “I’d love to do more, for sure. “I was going to do a TV series during this time as well, but it was too hard to juggle festivals, the play and the TV filming. “So I had to say no to that one, unfortunately, but hopefully something fun will arise that feels right.” Asked about her dream role, Pixie, who played Holly Golightly in a West End production of Breakfast At Tiffany’s in 2016, said: “I love playing the characters like Marilyn and Holly, because they have so many layers. They’re not just what meets the eye. “So something that just has a bit of meat to it where you can really dive into the character.” Krav’s Zo at home Zoe Kravitz is settling back into the rhythm of New York City after joining fiance Harry Styles in the Big Apple Credit: Getty ZOE KRAVITZ is settling back into the rhythm of New York City after joining fiance Harry Styles in the Big Apple. I’m told the American actress will be in the stands at Madison Square Garden every night as Harry performs a 30-date residency at the venue. The shows broke records, with Ticketmaster revealing there were over 11.5million pre-sale registrations for these shows, the “highest volume ever recorded for an artist presale” in New York. Harry kicks off his run of sold-out gigs at MSG on Wednesday night. Then he and Zoe will fly to Australia to finish his huge Together, Together tour 12 days before Christmas. A massive holiday will be the perfect present for Harry, I bet. And then it will be time to start planning their wedding . . . CURE IS REEL The Cure are planning a film for their 50th anniversary after frontman Robert Smith found boxes of never-before-seen footage Credit: Getty THE CURE are planning a film for their 50th anniversary after frontman Robert Smith found boxes of never-before-seen footage. Director Tim Pope, who worked on videos for their hit songs in the Nineties, such as Friday I’m In Love, Let’s Go To Bed, Close To Me and Just Like Heaven, has been tasked with going through the reels of footage. He’s hopeful he’ll be able to create a new project out of it for band’s diehard fans. Tim explained: “I met Robert when he was 22 or something. That was in 1982 and I’m still working with him now. I’m about to do a huge project with him. “It’s a celebration of their 50th year and Robert has told me that he has – and I haven’t seen any of this stuff, so you’ll have to ask him – but he’s told me he’s got boxes of stuff.” This year marks 50 years since they first formed under the name Malice, while 2029 will mark the anniversary of their debut album, Three Imaginary Boys. Tim told Times Radio: “So, with all these boxes of film, we’re going to have all this stuff, I can’t promise because I haven’t seen it yet. “But all the recording sessions with them and stuff that no one’s ever seen, I think that will be really incredible.” THE WEEK IN BIZNESS TOMORROW: Susanna Reid, Vicky McClure, Gary Lineker and gary Oldman are some of the big names at the Edinburgh International Television Festival this week.
