Female teacher, 37, who had sex with teen student in classroom is jailed – after showing cops where abuse took place

A HIGH school teacher has been sentenced to seven years in prison after having sex with a teen student on campus. It comes after a shocking video was released of the 37-year-old pointing out where her horrifying abuse of a student took place. Mashburn-Smith had already been suspended from her teaching job at Port Charlotte High School. She was arrested in April and pleaded guilty to unlawful activity with a minor. Mashburn-Smith gave a full confession, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. She was charged with unlawful activity with minors which was bumped up to a first-degree felony because she was a teacher. Shocking footage showed the teacher pointing to a pair of desks where she says the abuse with her 17-year-old pupil took place. The video showed Mashburn-Smith walking cops around her classroom, telling them graphic details about where and how the pair had sex. She said “I feel like it was these desks” before gesturing to another set and saying “I’m pretty sure it was these ones.” Continuing, she said: “As far as the intercourse goes, this is the desk that we leaned back on.” The disturbing relationship allegedly began when the pair began flirting over Snapchat, court documents reveal. The teen then started making secret trips to Mashburn-Smith’s classroom where they eventually kissed and had sex on at least two occasions, according to the confession. In the footage, Mashburn-Smith admits that she would sometimes leave the side door ajar so the boy could sneak in after football practice. Other times, he’d simply knock and she’d let him in. She said: “It’s not like I let him in and we went right to it or anything. “We would hug and talk … like I said it was not premeditated sex.” She was arrested on April 29 with bodycam footage showing her placed in handcuffs and taken to the station. According to court documents, the teacher complained about her marriage and told the teen she would leave her husband once he turned 18. The boy then stopped speaking to his teacher and blocked her, but she continued to message him on Snapchat, the confession states. Mashburn-Smith admitted that she “made a mistake,” the court documents say.
