Sam Fender has sparked fresh Glastonbury speculation with his latest tour announcement (Picture: Joseph Okpako/WireImage) Sam Fender has announced a massive UK stadium tour for 2027 – and there’s a rather conspicuous gap in his schedule that Glastonbury fans will be particularly interested in. The 32-year-old Geordie musician, who is reportedly preparing to headline Glastonbury next summer, has unveiled his aptly named Proper Massive Stadium Tour, including his biggest headline shows to date. And while fans will undoubtedly be thrilled at the prospect of seeing the Seventeen Going Under hitmaker perform at some of Britain’s most iconic venues, it’s the dates he hasn’t announced that might prove most exciting. Fender will kick things off with two hometown shows at Newcastle’s St James’ Park on June 3 and 5, before heading to Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on June 10. He’ll then take over London’s Wembley Stadium for two enormous shows on June 18 and 20. But after that? Nothing until July 1, when he’s due to perform at Dublin’s Marlay Park. That’s an 11-day gap in the singer’s otherwise packed summer schedule, conveniently leaving him free for a potential appearance at Glastonbury, which traditionally takes place over the final weekend of June. Of course, an empty calendar is hardly confirmation of a Pyramid Stage booking, but given the rumours already surrounding Fender’s involvement, it’s certainly an interesting coincidence. Earlier this month, The Mail on Sunday reported that Fender had been booked to headline the legendary festival, with a source claiming the musician was so thrilled he’d even been sharing the news with his neighbours. ‘Sam is over the moon, it’s a major milestone in his career and he’s so excited he’s even been telling his neighbours,’ the insider claimed. Should the rumours prove true, it would mark a remarkable milestone for the musician, who was forced to cancel a planned Glastonbury appearance in 2019 due to illness. He eventually made it to the Pyramid Stage in 2022, performing ahead of headliner Billie Eilish. Since then, his career has gone from strength to strength. His third studio album, People Watching, earned him the 2025 Mercury Prize, while his collaboration with Olivia Dean, Rein Me In, made UK chart history after spending an extraordinary 23 weeks at number one. And Fender isn’t the only artist whose summer touring schedule has sent the Glastonbury rumour mill into overdrive. Hit 80s band Bon Jovi is also rumoured to be performing (Picture: Samir Hussein/WireImage for ABA) Rock legends Bon Jovi have also been tipped for a headline slot after announcing a performance at BST Hyde Park on June 24. Bookmaker Coral subsequently slashed the band’s odds of appearing at Worthy Farm from 8/1 to 2/1, adding further fuel to speculation about the festival’s line-up. Other names linked to the event include Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Eminem and Chappell Roan. With tickets for Glastonbury 2027 selling out within minutes, despite the absence of a confirmed line-up, there’s no shortage of fans eager to discover who they’ll be watching next summer. In the meantime, Fender has plenty of other enormous shows to prepare for. Glastonbury will return in 2027 following a fallow year (Picture: Joseph Okpako/WireImage) Following his potential Glastonbury-sized gap, he’ll headline Belgium’s Rock Werchter festival on July 3, before returning to Britain for a show at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium on July 8 and two nights at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium on July 15 and 17. British alternative rock band Wunderhorse will support him on all UK stadium dates. The tour announcement also comes ahead of the release of Fender’s fourth studio album, with fans able to pre-order the record to access a ticket presale. Sam Fender's Proper Massive Stadium Tour 2027 dates June 3 – St James’ Park, Newcastle June 5 – St James’ Park, Newcastle June 10 – Principality Stadium, Cardiff June 18 – Wembley Stadium, London June 20 – Wembley Stadium, London July 1 – Marlay Park, Dublin July 3 – Rock Werchter, Belgium July 8 – Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh July 15 – Etihad Stadium, Manchester July 17 – Etihad Stadium, Manchester Fans hoping to secure tickets can register for presale access through Sam Fender’s official website by pre-ordering his upcoming album before 9am on Monday, October 26.
