After years of delays, Fast Forever, the upcoming 11th instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise, is finally moving towards production. Actor Vin Diesel has revealed that the film is expected to begin shooting in December, while also opening up about the emotional impact of the script.During a 25th anniversary screening of the original The Fast and the Furious, Diesel spoke about the long journey behind the upcoming film Fast Forever. He revealed that the 11th installment went through four sets of writers and four years of development before the team arrived at a script they felt was worthy of bringing the franchise to a close.Reflecting on his first reaction to the screenplay, Diesel told Variety that it left him in tears. “After I read the script, halfway through, one tear. By the end of the script that we crafted and worked so hard to make right for you after four years, I was crying,” he said. The actor added that he could not hold back his emotions after finishing the script. “I couldn't hold it back, and I had to tell everyone. And my sister said, ‘No more crying, bro.’ So I just want to say that sometimes, even the toughest guys in the world need to cry,” he said. With filming expected to begin in December, Fast Forever is set to bring the long-running franchise closer to its planned finale.Diesel had shared a similar reaction earlier this month in an Instagram post, where he teased the upcoming film while promoting the theatrical return of the 2001 original. “You have no idea When March 17th, 2028 comes you will thank God you got to see the first one in the theatres this summer,” Diesel wrote in the caption. He also opened up about reading the screenplay by Mike Leslie, calling it “the best script I have read in decades” and admitting, “I am still crying(sic),” he wrote.Fast Forever is expected to serve as the final instalment in the billion-dollar franchise and will reportedly form the second part of a two-film finale following the cliffhanger ending of 2023’s Fast X.However, while Diesel has been openly emotional about the screenplay, director Louis Leterrier revealed days later that he remains attached to the project but had not yet read the script himself.- EndsPublished By: Prachi aryaPublished On: Aug 19, 2026 06:00 IST
