A 65-year-old farmer was allegedly mauled to death by a tiger at Badagalapura in Chamarajanagar district on Monday evening.The deceased has been identified as Basavanna. According to reports reaching here, he had gone to his agricultural field and was working there when the alleged attack took place. His body was later found in a mauled condition.The incident came to light after Basavanna failed to return home from the field. His family members and villagers launched a search for him and found his body in the agricultural field.The suspected tiger attack triggered angry protests by villagers and residents of nearby villages, who expressed their ire against the Forest Department over the alleged failure to prevent attacks by wild animals in the area.Residents demanded compensation and a government job to one of his family members.
