The streaming service picked it up ahead of the 2026 World Cup, and bosses have extended the arrangement for a further two years. Lineker and Co will go head to head with Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane and others on Stick to Football. That trio have just landed a multi-million-pound deal with Disney+, pitting two streaming giants against one another. Wayne Rooney and popular streamer Mark Goldbridge will also be with Disney+ in their new show, Stick to United. The growth of internet and streaming has led to a changed landscape for more traditional means of coverage. Football Focus, which had been running since 1974, was axed by the BBC at the end of last season. The BBC’s flagship highlights show, Match of the Day, will continue into a second season without former presenter Lineker, who stepped down in 2025. Mark Chapman, Kelly Cates and Gabby Logan now share presenting duties on a rotating basis. And although TV viewing figures dropped last term, the numbers were offset by greater numbers on iPlayer and the mobile app. Soccer Saturday will return on Sky, fronted by Simon Thomas with Paul Merson, Tim Sherwood and Sue Smith among the regular pundits. Monday Night Football with Dave Jones, Neville and Carragher will also be back to provide viewers with in-depth analysis of the weekend’s games before showing that evening’s fixture. For live matches, it is back to a straight shootout between Sky and TNT this season, with Prime Video opting out of the current rights cycle.
