Sign in to your ScreenRant account At the end of Star Wars Rebels, Ezra Bridger used the Force to trap both himself and Grand Admiral Thrawn aboard the latter’s Star Destroyer, and allowed the Purrgil to take them to parts unknown. Ahsoka season 1 revealed that they both ended up on Peridea, with Ezra building a new life in a tribe of the local Noti. Roughly a decade later, he finally reunited with Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano when they arrived on Peridea as part of their mission to track down Thrawn and Morgan Elsbeth. In the Ahsoka season 1 finale, Ezra finally escaped from Peridea by hiding aboard Thrawn’s flagship, then snuck off and found his way to Hera Syndulla and Chopper, two more of his Rebels-era cohorts. Eman Esfandi will reprise Ezra in Ahsoka season 2 when it premieres in January, but that’s not the only project featuring the character arriving in three months. 2027 also sees Ezra being spotlighted in an Ahsoka prequel comic book series. Escape From Thrawn Follows Ezra Bridger’s Return Home Marvel Comics Written by Dave Filoni and Rodney Barnes, illustrated by Andrea Di Vito, and with cover art by Phil Noto, Marvel Comics’ Star Wars: Ahsoka - Escape from Thrawn will comprise five issues. The limited series will show how Ezra got off Thrawn’s ship once it returned to Star Wars’ main galaxy far, far away. Fleeing the Chimera will be no easy feat, as Ezra will “evade Captain Enoch, counter the dark magick of the Nightsisters, and outwit the Empire's greatest strategist,” i.e. Thrawn himself. Even after getting off the Chimera, Ezra will still face challenges and dangers before finally making it to New Republic territory to reunite with Hera and Chopper. It’s unclear if Escape from Thrawn will end at the same point as when Ezra will last seen in the Ahsoka season 1 finale, or if the comic book series will depict events taking place before season 2. This isn’t the first time a character who originated from Star Wars Rebels has led their own comic book series. In 2015 and 2016, Marvel published the 12-issue series Kanan, which followed Kanan Jarrus’ life as a Jedi Padawan leading up to Order 66 and the end of the Clone Wars. Additionally, Timothy Zahn’s 2017 novel Star Wars: Thrawn was adapted into a comic book series in 2018, with Thrawn having joined the official Star Wars continuity in Rebels season 3 after previously being featured in the Legends canon. As for what awaits Ezra in the TV realm next, the Ahsoka season 2 trailer shows him hugging Zeb, another friend from the Star Wars Rebels days, and piloting an A-Wing for the New Republic. The next batch of Ahsoka episodes follows ThrAwn declaring war on the New Republic while Ahsoka and Sabine uncover new mysteries on Peridea. In addition to Star Wars: Ahsoka - Escape from Thrawn’s launch, January will also deliver the first issue of the crossover series Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles. Star Wars: Ahsoka - Escape from Thrawn #1 will be released Wednesday, January 20 by Marvel Comics. Release Date August 22, 2023 Network Disney+ Showrunner Dave Filoni
