Exact day dogs are allowed back on hundreds of beaches across UK as 5-month ban is lifted

HUNDREDS of British beaches are set to lift their seasonal dog bans in a matter of days. As temperatures drop outside, dog walking will be able to resume for the first time in five months. A host of iconic beaches have been affected by these restrictions all summer, including popular destinations Brighton Beach, Margate Beach and Bournemouth Beach. Restrictions on many major beaches have been enforced since May 1, with a number of local councils prohibiting dog access on the beach during its busiest season. In some locations, dogs may be restricted to certain zones on the sand, required to stay on leads, or only be allowed to visit at a particular time. The rule is enforced using a Public Spaces Protection Order as a way to uphold hygiene standards, water quality and guarantee children’s safety. If you and your dog are found on a restricted part of the beach, a fine of as much as £100 can be issued. On certain beaches, restrictions may be stricter – on North Yorkshire’s beaches, dog fouling and other offences can lead to fines reaching £1,000. Given this is a council-related ban, it is up to the local authority to decide if they want to enforce rules, meaning lots of beaches welcome responsible dog owners during summer. Most read in The Sun Dorset’s Jurassic Coast location Durdle Door is amongst those beaches, alongside Rhossili Bay in Wales and Fistral Beach in Newquay.
