A TEEN has been charged with murder and attempted murder after a 17-year-old girl was stabbed to death with a sword and three others were wounded at a school in Sweden. Liam Nebel, 18, is alleged to have stormed Brinell High School in the town of Fagersta brandishing the blade – just days after classes had started. A photo published by the Swedish outlet showed him wearing a face mask, helmet and dark clothing. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! The school’s headmaster told local radio that Nebel had a card to enter the premises because he was a former student. A motive remains unclear but police had no reason to believe that others were involved. “We are looking into several leads… We are trying, of course, to remain as open-minded as possible,” police chief Tommy Alriksson told reporters. They are investigating whether the suspect was linked to a TikTok account that posted a picture of a sword 20 minutes before the attack. According to the Dagens Nyheter newspaper, the image appeared to have been taken in a restroom at the school. Multiple videos paying tribute to murderers – including neo-Nazi Anders Behring Breivik, who in 2011 massacred 77 people in Norway – were published on the account before it was taken down. It took 10 minutes for police to arrive at the school after the alarm was raised. Roger Agren, the regional rescue leader for the operation, told SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster, that the scenes at the school were “chaotic”. “When we went in there were several pupils hanging out of the window, screaming,” he added. “I could not hear what they were saying but they were clearly frightened.” Police have confirmed that a 17-year-old girl was killed, and that her family has been informed, but have not released her name. Three other people were wounded in the bloodbath on Friday, including two boys aged 12 and 17 who suffered serious injuries. The third person, who was also under 18, was slightly injured and has been discharged from hospital. On Friday, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson described the attack as a “serious incident,” and said “we do not know what lies behind the act, but we know that police are working very intensively”. He visited the makeshift memorial set up outside the school yesterday. “What must never happen has happened again,” Kristersson said. “Our thoughts go first and foremost to the families who have been incredibly hard hit by this.”
