EX-MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ruben Amorim was summoned for showdown talks with AC Milan’s owner after a poor start with his new team. Amorim, 41, was sacked by United in January following 14 turbulent months both on and off the pitch that included explosive statements targeting club chiefs and players as well as poor results. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, that led to an emergency meeting with Milan owner Gerry Cardinale. After the crunch talks this week, Amorim was given a vote of confidence from the club’s chief. That is despite some strong words from the ex-Braga manager, which was similar to some of his press conferences at Man Utd where he suggested his then players didn’t suit his 3-4-3 and 3-4-2-1 style of play. However, he also called for patience as it is still early days into his tenure and the players are still learning. Amorim told Sky Italia: “I know at Manchester United and Milan, two big clubs with the pressure to win, people expect everything in just a few months, and I feel the same pressure here.
