Every Upcoming DC Movie In 2026 And Beyond

There are plenty of upcoming DC movies in 2026 and beyond, with a wide array of films being in various stages of development at DC Studios. Fundamentally, 2024 represented a new beginning for DC's on-screen installments, as the stage began to be properly set for the start of the DCU's rebirth under James Gunn's with 2025's Superman. On the heels of that release, the DCU is moving to establish multiple corners of this expansive world. At the same time, there is also the Batman property Matt Reeves is handling with the upcoming The Batman Part II, which is scheduled for a 2028 release and will be set in the Elseworlds, adjacent to, but not directly connected to, the DCU. There are also two other Batman-related movies coming down the line, with the animated Dynamic Duo and the Batman and Robin movie, The Brave and the Bold. The year 2026 has already seen the release of Supergirl, which brings the Woman of Tomorrow officially into the DCU after her short cameo at the end of Superman. The movie also introduces Lobo (Jason Momoa), and there are plenty of rumors that he could be back in the future, possibly even in his own movie, although nothing is confirmed until Gunn makes the announcement himself. Clayface - October 23, 2026 One of the more surprising releases from the new DCU is the Clayface movie, which will be released on October 23 and will be set in the mainline DCU. The movie is surprising because it is a genuine horror movie. James Gunn has said numerous times that the DCU movies will not have the same template and design, and there will be action, adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, and even horror movies on the slate. Prolific horror director and writer Mike Flanagan wrote the script before Hossein Amini did some rewrites, and James Watkins stepped in to direct after Flanagan was tied up with other commitments. Clayface originallyappeared in Creature Commandos, and this movie will be a lower-budget horror film, checking in at around $40 million, and rumors that it will be inspired by The Fly bode well for a body horror film that is unlike anything else in either the MCU or the DCU. The movie is getting an October 23 release date because Warner Bros. believes this movie could be its big Halloween movie this year, serving as a similar release to Halloween Kills (2021) and Black Phone 2 (2025). If anything, this shows how Gunn's DCU movies are all going to look different and tell varied stories rather than the generic superhero movies that many fans are used to. Batman: Knightfall Trilogy (2026-2027) Warner Bros. is releasing a new animated movie trilogy that is another Elseworlds story. This is Batman: Knightfall, which adapts the storyline that solidified Bane in the world of DC Comics after his introduction in Batman: Vengeance of Bane. The trilogy launched in 2026, with Batman: Knightfall — Part 1: Knightfall released on August 25. Anson Mount (Inhumans, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds) voices Batman in the series. Pablo Schreiber voices Azrael, and Michael Mando voices Bane. The story sees Bane breaking countless villains out of Arkham Asylum and waiting patiently as they all wear Batman down. This is when Bane finally attacks and breaks Batman's back, taking him out for a year. Azrael then takes over the role of Batman and becomes a brutal version of the character, which forces Batman to eventually return to bring down his replacement. If the movies follow the same storyline from the comics, the second movie will likely follow Azrael as he replaces Batman, taking on more lethal and deadly tactics, while the third movie will see Batman make his return to finally confront his replacement. Part 2 has a planned release later in 2026, and Part 3 in 2027. Man of Tomorrow - July 9, 2027 Already fulfilling the promise that the DCU would be completely different from its predecessor, Gunn announced that a sequel of sorts to 2025's Superman will be released just two years later. Man of Tomorrow was first announced by Gunn with a title and release date, accompanied by artwork from comic book artist Jim Lee. The film is set to star David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult, as both reprise their roles as Superman and Lex Luthor, respectively. In addition, it will be written and directed by Gunn, helping to maintain the continuity of these characters' storylines in the DCU. There has been plenty of information leaked as filming has begun, including reports that Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger, will be the villain, and Superman will have to team up with Lex Luthor to try to stop him. The movie will also feature Luthor's iconic comic-accurate green body armor suit. Man of Tomorrow will also feature a lot of heroes in the DCU, including appearances by Guy Gardner, Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, John Stewart, Supergirl, and the return of Blue Beetle, played once again by Xolo Maridueña, who was last seen in his solo DCEU legacy release in 2023. The Batman Part II - February 18, 2028 Image via MovieStillsDB Matt Reeves' The Batman was intended to kick-start a new trilogy of standalone DC projects focused on the Caped Crusader, so the confirmation of a sequel was inevitable. However, delays have pushed back the sequel time and time again. The movie was set for a 2026 release, but it was pushed back to 2027, and now it isn't scheduled to hit theaters until February 18, 2028. The good news is that this date is likely to stick. That is because the movie finally began filming in 2026, with principal photography starting in June. The Batman Part II is a DC Elseworlds project, continuing the story of the 2022 original and its TV follow-up, The Penguin, which premiered in September 2024. Robert Pattinson reprises his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, although not much else is known about the film. Reeves has teased that the storyline will further explore the corruption at the heart of Gotham City: We've shared [the script] as we've been going along with DC, and they're super excited. It's going to dig into the epic story about deeper corruption, and it goes into places [Bruce Wayne] couldn't even anticipate in the first one. The seeds of where this goes are all in the first movie and it expands in a way that will show you aspects of the character you never got to see. Batman is constantly battling these forces. But those forces can't be entirely exorcised. So the next movie delves deeper into that. The Batman Part II's script was finished in June 2025, and the production is on track to make its new release date, six years after The Batman made its way to theaters. MCU alumni Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson joined the cast in mysterious roles. There are rumors that Stan could be playing Victor Zsasz, while Harvey Dent is also supposed to be part of the storyline. It is also rumored that the movie could follow the "Court of Owls" comic book storyline. Dynamic Duo - June 30, 2028 Dynamic Duo was announced in the fall of 2024. Rather than following Batman and Robin, this animated film centers on two of the most iconic Robins, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, as they try to navigate their very different futures. After being Robin, Grayson eventually became Nightwing, while Todd turned into the Red Hood following his death at the hands of the Joker. Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber rewrote the script by Matthew Aldrich's (Coco), while Swaybox Studios will handle animation. Swaybox uses a mix of puppetry, live-action, stop-motion, and CGI to make its projects come to life. The use of puppets will help the movie stand out, as will the story. The Dynamic Duo plot sees Jason Todd and Dick Grayson as childhood friends. However, after Batman takes in Dick and trains him to become Robin, Jason joins the Red Hood Gang. While other Batman-adjacent projects have suffered setbacks, Dynamic Duo has a 2028 release date locked in, and the other movies shouldn't affect it. The Brave And The Bold - In Development The Brave and the Bold is set to reboot Batman for the DCU, placing a new actor in the role of Bruce Wayne, separate from Robert Pattinson's iteration. While there's no current release date set, The Brave and the Bold is rumored to introduce Damian Wayne, Bruce Wayne's estranged son, to the DCU as a version of Robin, although Gunn has said some things have changed about Robin in the movie. The film will be based on Grant Morrison's 2006-2013 run of Batman in DC Comics, but there hasn't been much more news about the development of the project since Gunn's initial January 2023 announcement. The Flash's Andy Muschietti is attached to direct the upcoming Batman reboot, but a timeline is unclear. There were rumors in August that Muschietti said The Brave and the Bold would be put on pause until the Warner Bros./Paramount merger was complete, to ensure that Gunn was still in charge after that happened. However, Gunn shot those rumors down, saying it doesn't sound like something Muschietti would say, and the project was not on hold. Despite that, The Brave and the Bold still has no release date. Swamp Thing - In Development Swamp Thing is expected to be another horror film for the DCU, following Clayface. This one will explore the dark origins of the mysterious Swamp Thing, based on Alan Moore's run on The Saga of the Swamp Thing (1984-1987) from DC Comics. James Mangold, who had previously expressed interest in working with Gunn and Peter Safran in the DCU, was quickly attached to the project as writer and director. Despite being darker, Swamp Thing will still be connected to the rest of the DCU, proving that Gunn and Safran aren't afraid to play with genre in the development of their new franchise. Mangold has offered a glimpse of what DC fans can expect from the new movie: "While I’m sure DC views Swamp Thing as a franchise, I would be viewing it as a very simple, clean, Gothic horror movie about this man/monster... Just doing my own thing with this, just a standalone." However, Mangold has since signed a new deal with Paramount, which puts his ability to direct Swamp Thing in question. Gunn has publicly said that the film remains in development. The film could face more delays during the Warner Bros./Paramount merger. Vincent D'Onofrio has also said he would love to play Swamp Thing, which comes after his performance as Kingpin in the MCU. Wonder Woman - TBA In June 2025, Gunn confirmed that there are plans for a Wonder Woman movie in the DCU, with Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira writing the script. There are very few details about this production at present, but it will be separate from the previously announced Paradise Lost series on HBO Max. While DC was planning to fast-track the movie, there is no word on when it will arrive or if it is still being fast-tracked, especially after Supergirl's bombing at the box office. In more distressing news, there were rumors that Paradise Lost was canceled, but Gunn has denied these rumors. That said, there are rumors that the DCU is casting an actress as Wonder Woman to appear in Man of Tomorrow, so that could be a way in for the heroine, and it could test the waters for her own solo movie in the future. For now, these are all rumors, and none should be taken as fact without Gunn's confirmation. Teen Titans - TBA The first film announced after the initial reveal of the DCU Chapter 1 slate is a Teen Titans movie that will take place in the mainline DCU alongside Superman. There is currently no director attached to the project, but Ana Nogueira, who wrote Supergirl, is set to write the film. However, she is also set to write Wonder Woman, so it is unclear which film Gunn prioritizes. With The Brave and the Bold set to introduce Damian Wayne into live action for the first time, it is reasonable to assume he will also be featured in Teen Titans. Another possible character that could appear is Xolo Maridueña's Blue Beetle, who was brought over from the previous DCEU and will next appear in Man of Tomorrow. The Suicide Squad has two movies, the Joker has two movies starring Joaquin Phoenix, and both Harley Quinn and The Penguin have their own TV shows. According to reports from THR in late September 2024, the next such project will be Bane & Deathstroke. Most recently played on the big screen by Tom Hardy in The Dark Knight Rises and Joe Manganiello in the DCEU, the villains will headline a DC Studios movie written by Matthew Orton (Moon Knight). No director is attached to the project yet, and casting has not been confirmed, but in May 2026, it was reported that Greg Mottola had met with DC Studios about the job.
