EU Raises Ukrainian Flag in Brussels Ahead of Independence Day

The European Commission raised the Ukrainian flag at its headquarters in Brussels on Friday, Aug. 21, ahead of Ukraine’s Independence Day on Monday, Aug. 24. In Paris, the Eiffel Tower will be illuminated in the blue and yellow colors of the Ukrainian flag at 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 24, according to Le Parisien. The illumination will be preceded by a ceremony at the Trocadéro esplanade, featuring speeches by Paris Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire and Ukrainian Ambassador to France Vadym Omelchenko. Following the speeches, the Ukrainian children’s choir “Zernyatko” is scheduled to perform.
