Based on the metrics, these rankings could definitely be debate worthy following the weekend’s results. 16. Vanderbilt FPI: 0.5National Rank: 66Projected W-L: 4-8 Vanderbilt is at the bottom of the SEC FPI following their loss to Arkansas at home over the weekend. In the 31-21 loss, QB Jared Curtis was 19-of-31 passing for 274 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. They’ll head to Kentucky this weekend. 15. Arkansas FPI: 2.2National Rank: 58Projected W-L: 4-8 Speaking of Arkansas, they’re next up in the SEC FPI, but not at the bottom of the basement. The Razorbacks weren’t over the top-impressive, but got a 31-21 win to improve their record to 3-4. QB KJ Jackson was 21-of-31 passing for 251 yards and had 11 carries for 58 yards and a score. 14. Mississippi State FPI: 9.1National Rank: 38Projected W-L: 7-5 Mississippi State still has a nice projected record that’ll make them bowl eligible, but Saturday was a tough watch without QB Kamario Taylor and RB Fluff Bothwell. In the 31-0 loss to LSU, nothing seemed to go right at any point of the game. They’ll host Oklahoma this weekend in a must-win if they want to stay in CFP contention. 13. South Carolina FPI: 11.6National Rank: 29Projected W-L: 6-6 South Carolina is next up in the SEC FPI following a bye week. The Gamecocks dominated Florida their last time out so the vibes were good. But now, they host Tennessee, which is one of the hottest teams in the conference. At 3-3, this season could end on a positive note or spin into disaster. 12. Missouri FPI: 12.3National Rank: 27Projected W-L: 7-5 Missouri laid a bit of an egg and they’re further down the SEC FPI than they might’ve been a couple of weeks ago. Following a 31-3 loss to Ole Miss, the schedule does them no favors the rest of the way. The Tigers could get back on track against Arkansas in two weeks, but they also have to play Texas, Georgia, Kentucky and Oklahoma to end the year. 11. Kentucky FPI: 12.7National Rank: 9-3Projected W-L: 26 The Will Stein effect is real and it just goes to show, based on the SEC FPI metrics, this conference is very deep. Still, the Wildcats are 6-1 and projected to win at least nine games this year. Could this be a playoff team? They have to play the likes of Tennessee, Florida and Missouri in conference play, and they’re all ranked. Not only that, the end the year with rival Louisville. 10. Oklahoma FPI: 13.3National Rank: 22Projected W-L: 6-6 Funny enough, the SEC FPI actually has Oklahoma ahead of Kentucky, despite the Sooners losing head to head this past weekend. Not only that, their projected record makes them bowl eligible, but by the skin of their teeth. It’s been lackluster this year, starting with QB John Mateer, who was picked off three times in the loss to Kentucky. 9. Auburn FPI: 13.4National Rank: 21Projected W-L: 7-5 One of the stunners of the weekend! Auburn earned a win over previously ranked No. 1 Georgia (AP Poll). In the 27-24 victory, Alex Golesh’s crew never quit. That certainly changed their fortunes in the SEC FPI as well as a potential postseason berth. Byrum Brown was 15-of-26 for 150 yards and a touchdown while running for 115 yards and a score. 8. Texas A&M FPI: 13.5National Rank: 20Projected W-L: 6-6 If you didn’t realize Texas A&M played this week, don’t worry, they didn’t have a marquee game. The Aggies had a non-conference for Citadel come to town and they shut them out 41-0. It’s been a bit of a struggle for Mike Elko’s team this year though and they have Alabama on the road this coming weekend. 7. Florida FPI: 14.3National Rank: 19Projected W-L: 8-4 Florida is back folks! The Gators broke their two-game losing streak by beating Texas 27-24 on the road. While the Longhorns have their own problems, Jon Sumrall’s crew had a major response. With two losses already, they’d like;y have to win out to make the CFP, but their schedule points towards that SEC FPI projected record of 8-4. Georgia is up next on Halloween. 6. Tennessee FPI: 18.1National Rank: 12Projected W-L: 9-3 Could Tennessee return to the CFP? It seems very possible following a 26-10 win over Alabama at home. They’re still outside the top five of the SEC FPI, but on paper, winning nine games looks pretty good. The schedule features two more ranked opponents in Kentucky and LSU, but the Vols might be able to earn their way to 10 wins and the College Football Playoff. 5. Ole Miss FPI: 18.8National Rank: 11 Projected W-L: 9-3 Ole MIss came off their bye week and dominated Missouri 31-3 at home and will head to Austin to take on a reeling Texas squad this weekend. The Rebels are in the top five of the SEC FPI, but they could climb quickly as the season goes into November. After Texas, Trinidad Chambliss and crew have Auburn, Georgia, Oklahoma, Wofford and Mississippi State. 4. LSU FPI: 23.0National Rank: 8 Projected W-L: 8-4 Oh yes, do you remember LSU? Lane Kiffin? Yeah, they just shut out Mississippi State 31-0 over the weekend. The Tigers are already at that two loss mark, but the quality of their schedule is high, per the SEC FPI. They’ll have fascinating matchups the rest of the way, which include Alabama, Texas and Tennessee in November. 3. Texas FPI: 23.6National Rank: 7Projected W-L: What is going on with Texas? Despite another bad loss, the Longhorns are still in the top three of the SEC FPI this week. But Arch Manning has struggled big time, which has some calling for backup KJ Lacey to start in his place. Steve Sarkisian will be under pressure to right the ship and it doesn’t get any easier with Ole Miss coming to town this weekend. 2. Alabama FPI: 24.2National Rank: 6Projected W-L: 9-3 Alabama is still high up in the SEC FPI despite its second straight loss. THe problem is though, the Crimson Tide might be one loss away from being out of College Football Playoff contention. In the 26-10 loss to Tennessee, Keelon Russell was just 19-of-29 passing for 147 yards and two picks. Daniel Hill was the leading rusher with just 34 yards. 1. Georgia FPI: 26.7National Rank: 3Projected W-L: 11-1 Georgia is still at the top of the SEC FPI rankings despite a loss to Auburn. Not only that, this is still a national championship contender that could finish 11-1 in the regular season and go deep in the CFP. The biggest concerns from Saturday were Gunner Stockton turning it over three times. Georgia gets a week off before turning to a brutal part of the schedule: Florida, Ole Miss and Missouri.
