Emmerdale’s Belle comes face to face with abuser Tom in hospital showdown

Belle braces herself (Picture: ITV) When Emmerdale’s Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) learnt that Tom King (James Chase) would soon be released from prison, she knew that she’d eventually come face to face with him again. In upcoming episodes, the terrifying moment happens for Belle, as she decides to speak with Tom after learning that he’s in hospital. Tom arrived in the village in 2023 and quickly connected with Belle, which led to them starting a relationship. This was the start of an absolutely horrific ordeal for Belle. As part of a domestic abuse storyline, Tom exerted sinister, coercive control over the much-loved character. From psychological abuse and cyber-stalking to harming the family pet, Piper, Tom’s actions left Belle terrified and isolated from her friends and family. Tom’s behaviour led to a conviction and prison sentence, but Belle discovered a few weeks ago that he was going to be released. As she helps Sam Dingle (James Hooton) and Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) get the house ready, Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) arrives and reveals that Tom has been attacked and is in a critical condition. Just as Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) admits that he organised the attack, Sam learns that Samson assaulted someone and won’t be coming home. As the Dingles fall apart in the aftermath of this, Sam receives a call from Samson and learns that new charges mean his time in prison could get even longer. Once she arrives at the hospital, Belle’s anxiety begins to grow. Kammy tries to calm her nerves, but makes it clear that he doesn’t really want her going into the ward room alone. Belle believes that Kammy’s presence would rile Tom up so, despite his apprehension, he agrees to give Belle ten minutes alone with Tom – and then he will send help.
