The poor girl has been through so, so much, and just when it seemed that grandma Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) could deliver a little ray of hope to her, she, of course, did a Charity and handed Sarah a baby that isn’t hers. According to Katie, though, Sarah is about to have a change of scenery! ‘After the whole Charity ordeal, Sarah moves into the farm with Robert [Sugden (Ryan Hawley)] and Aaron [Dingle (Danny Miller)] to get away from everything,’ she explained exclusively to Metro at the Inside Soap awards. ‘Jacob [(Joe-Warren Plant)] and Sarah live opposite Charity so, rather than move out of the village, which is what Jacob initially suggests, they move into the farm. ‘It’s been great fun to film with Danny and Ryan.’ Sarah will be moving out in Emmerdale! (Picture: Annabel Lee-Ellis/PA Wire) It seems to us, though, that it’s a case of ‘out of the frying pan, into the fire’ here; yes, Charity has massively messed up, but with Robert neck deep in an alliance with the devious Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) to find recently deceased Jimmy King’s (Nick Miles) cash, Sarah’s still going to be surrounded by chaos. Nothing new though, is it? Sarah’s entire childhood was marred with serious illness, initially Fanconi anaemia, followed by throat cancer. She later suffered heart failure as a result of the gruelling chemotherapy, necessitating a transplant, and later suffering cervical cancer. All she wanted was to have a child with her now-husband, Jacob, and when every adoption agency she applied to rejected her due to her short life-expectancy, grandma Charity stepped in and offered to be a surrogate. Simple, right? Charity would have the embryo implanted and then carry Sarah and Jacob’s baby, deliver it, and everything would be okay, wouldn’t it? Don’t be stupid! There was still a potential happy ending though, right? The baby could be Sarah and Jacob’s? I won’t tell you to stop being stupid again! Of course, the baby was Charity and Ross’, though Charity attempted to move heaven and earth to keep the secret under wraps, until the utterly repulsive Dr Todd (Caroline Harker) discovered the truth, tried to blackmail money from Charity, and, when that failed, ultimately raped her. Sarah discovered the truth as Charity finally took her power back from her sickening rapist and, in the heat of the moment, shoved Todd, sending her crashing into a table. When Todd’s skull met the surface, she collapsed to the floor and took her last breath. Sarah was now a killer. Katie isn’t sure there’s a way back for Sarah and Charity (Picture: Mark Bruce/ITV) Driven by the need to protect her granddaughter, Charity took the entire rap for the death of the demon doc, and has since found herself locked up and facing a lengthy stretch for the slaying. With Sarah determined to confess and being consumed with guilt, Charity played her final card in order to convince her to let her take whatever punishment lay ahead: she confessed the truth about Leyla’s conception. When asked if she sees a way back together in their broken relationship, Katie answered both for herself, and her alter-ego. ‘As Katie, I want her to forgive her so me and Emma can work together again!
