| Soaps Reporter Published August 31, 2026 10:55am Updated August 31, 2026 10:55am Emmerdale fans fear the death wave isn’t over (Picture: Shutterstock) We’re still trying to recover from the emotional impact of last week’s Emmerdale, which resulted in the deaths of two beloved characters – but fans fear the Grim Reaper hasn’t finished yet. The backdrop of last week’s tragic episodes was the wedding of Joe Tate and Dawn Taylor (Ned Porteous and Olivia Bromley). Weddings are supposed to be joyous occasions – unless you’re a character in a soap, of course. The event was seemingly doomed from the outset, given Dawn’s plan to jilt Joe and run away with Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) and the kids. However, when Dawn finally found out that Joe hadn’t been the man to attack Billy, she changed her mind and went back to her fiancé – a move that would prove to be fatal. While Dawn and Joe reconnected, Jimmy King (Nick Miles) lost control of his car and ploughed into the wedding marquee. We’ve already had to say goodbye to Emmerdale legend Jimmy King (Picture: ITV) Trapped in the car, Jimmy died with heartbroken Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) at his side, just before the car and marquee exploded with Joe trapped inside. Miraculously, Joe survived the blast and was rushed to hospital with Dawn, who gave birth to a healthy baby boy. In a devastating turn of events, Joe later found Dawn dead, having died while he was out of the room. However, fans fear that a third death may be on the horizon – and that Joe may not get out unscathed. Is there going to be more to Joe collapsing like a brain Injury with lasting effects or was it just so he wasn't with Dawn when she passed. #emmerdale— Dr Swarla 23/04/2026💍 (@DrSwarla2025) August 30, 2026 Joe will probably die tomorrow, he didn't collapse for no reason. Either that or he will stealing more major organs soon 🙄— Dot (@dmcb002) August 30, 2026 Prior to Dawn’s death, Joe collapsed in the hospital corridor, and fans are wondering if this could be hinting to an underlying brain injury that could cost him his life. On Facebook, Metro reader Frances theorised: ‘I think theres more to come with Joe, after he collapsed & earlier when he got up he went dizzy. He may be the next death but then I had a thought..when they were talking baby names they mentioned Christopher (his uncles name i think) he could end up partly paralysed like Chris Tate was??’ Courtney also thought there was more to the collapse, adding: ‘They’ll address it later on.’ Is Joe Tate still at risk? (Picture: ITV) ‘I guess he’s bleeding internally,’ Helen suggested, while Amanda speculated: ‘He may of collapsed from exhaustion.’ Other fans believed that the collapse may have had something to do with the kidney he stole from Caleb Miligan (William Ash) earlier this year. ‘Could be kidney damage due to the crash,’ Anna said, while Maurice guessed: ‘Or maybe the girder falling on him affected his transplant.’ Deals of the Day The viral LED face mask with over 350 lights that's currently discounted by £100 A friend said I looked 'snatched' – I credit this new Charlotte Tilbury powder Shop MySweetSmile's biggest Bank Holiday offers before they end Back-to-school shopping just got a lot cheaper thanks to Primark The back-to-school essential parents forget every year – and it could cost them Are Emmerdale fans right to worry about Joe’s fate?
