Emmerdale confirms huge change for Marlon after decades

Change is on the horizon for Marlon Dingle (Picture: ITV) Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) is set for huge new things in Emmerdale. They involve him turning his back on the Dingles. We said it was huge! He’s due to make a big decision that could create enemies of his own family, but with so few prospects, he has to snap up breaks when they come. With new management at the Hide comes new employment opportunities. Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) needs his business up and running ASAP given that he hasn’t got two pennies to rub together. He needs a chef who can just walk into the kitchen and get started, so who better to poach than Marlon. Marlon has been at the Woolpack for a quarter of a century, and we can bet that being part of the family means he probably hasn’t had a pay rise since 1999. So, when Robert offers him a job, Marlon makes a ridiculous salary suggestion and Robert accepts it, what else is Marlon going to do? Charity Dingle isn’t impressed (Picture: ITV) Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) is not impressed by Robert’s inflated salary offering because he seriously cannot manage his money – he only has enough to get the business going in the first place because he gambled on a poker game – and cheated to win. He bought the place with a dead man’s stolen paycheck. The whole ‘family loyalty’ malarkey gets bandied about but Marlon is too excited about his new opportunity to be stopped, that and the fact Mary also chucks her job in and switches to the Sugden side. Now, there’s beef between the Dingles and Sugdens, namely that Charity (Emma Atkins) is peeved with Robert for taking Sarah (Katie Hill) away from her. Charity was also the one who stole Robert’s poker winnings. It’s a major opportunity for Marlon and Mary Goskirk (Picture: ITV) Ask Metro Use AI to go deeper into the stories you care about – powered by Metro and trusted publications. So, she is doubly disgusted by the suggestion from Marlon that he goes to work for the other side. Ultimately though, she can’t stop him – and the lure of much more money is enough to see Marlon deflect. Charity is so angry that she bars Robert and Aaron from the pub.
