Emirates announced on Monday the suspension of its codeshare operations with Flydubai for flights to and from Tel Aviv, effective immediately and until further notice. In an official update, the airline said that affected customers would receive the necessary support to complete their journeys, advising travelers to contact their travel agents or the Emirates contact center for the latest information regarding travel arrangements. The decision follows Flydubai’s suspension of flights to and from Israel, prompted by an incident aboard flight FZ1073—traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv—on September 30. The co-pilot attacked the captain inside the cockpit using an emergency axe before crew members and passengers managed to subdue him; the aircraft was forced to land at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia. The UAE Public Prosecutor described the incident as a “terrorist act.” Reuters reported on Monday that investigations indicate the co-pilot—an Omani national—told UAE investigators he had planned the attack before joining Flydubai and had considered carrying out a similar attack during a previous flight to Tel Aviv. UAE authorities have not yet announced formal charges against him. Flydubai has announced the temporary suspension of its flights to Israel while investigations into the circumstances and causes of the incident continue. Back to top button
