Election panel orders Netanyahu to remove 'election propaganda' videos

The chairman of Israel's Central Elections Committee chairman ordered that prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu remove online videos where military and public resources were used without authorisation, according to Haaretz. With election season in Israel set to begin on 27 October, Noam Sohlberg ruled that the videos constituted campaigning and included remarks that could only be seen as "boasting" over the government and the prime minister's achievements. He also said that the videos are "election propaganda whose intention is to persuade the voter", and ordered Netanyahu to also pay the petitioners 29,000 shekels ($9,500) in legal fees.
