Most-played games range from Clair Obscur to Civ to Elden Ring to Halo 2 and beyond. Elden Ring fans have been waiting quite some time for the official new DLC to release alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. The overhauled version was first announced during the Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025, originally with plans for a release later that year before ultimately being pushed into 2026. The Tarnished Edition serves as an all-in-one package, bundling the original Elden Ring with its acclaimed Shadow of the Erdtree expansion while introducing several smaller additions for returning players. These include the new Idus Knight and Heavy Knight starting classes, additional weapons and armor, three new skins for Torrent, and new NPC invasion events in Caelid and Leyndell. The extra content is also being released separately as the Tarnished Pack for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players (via Bandai Namco). After more than a year of waiting since its initial reveal, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and its Tarnished Pack DLC for non-Switch 2 players are officially available starting today, August 28. The Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 is available to purchase today for $79.99 USD as a digital download through the Nintendo Store, while a physical edition is also being offered through Bandai Namco and participating retailers for the same suggested price. The Tarnished Pack DLC is available for all other platforms starting today as well, bringing the new content from Tarnished Edition to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Players will need to own the original Elden Ring to access the standalone pack, which adds the Idus Knight and Heavy Knight starting classes, new weapons and armor, three new appearances for Torrent, and NPC invasion events in Caelid and Leyndell. Once the Tarnished Pack has been downloaded and Patch 1.17 installed, players can find most of its new equipment naturally throughout the Lands Between. The weapons and armor associated with the Idus Knight and Heavy Knight can be purchased from certain merchants or discovered while exploring, meaning existing characters do not need to start a new game to access them. The new weapons also come with their own weapon skills/Ashes of War, giving returning players additional combat options to experiment with alongside the new gear. Meanwhile, Torrent's three new appearances must be found separately: the Tree Sentinel Spectral Steed Attire is located in Stormveil Castle, Silver of Caria is found in Liurnia of the Lakes, and Funereal Night can be discovered in Altus Plateau. Finding the first skin unlocks a new option at Sites of Grace for changing Torrent's appearance. Further, in addition to the aforementioned content, those who pre-ordered the Nintendo Switch 2 Tarnished Edition will be able to use two bonus gestures, The Ring and Ring of Miquella. The gestures are tied to the Tarnished Edition pre-order bonus and are not listed as part of the standalone Tarnished Pack DLC available on other platforms. If you've been waiting for a new excuse to dive back into the Lands Between, there's a ton of new Elden Ring content available starting today.
