It offers more than 62 million seats annually on flights to and from the country. But for this winter season, the low-cost carrier has cut around 1.3 million to 1.4 million seats across its network, reportedly due to rising jet fuel prices. Several of its routes from the UK have also been affected. But, of course, it is not all about route cuts. The budget airline has also introduced several new services from the UK, including flights to popular winter destinations and cities known for their Christmas markets, such as Copenhagen, Nuremberg, and Kraków. In fact, seven new routes have launched in just three days. easyJet Adds Seven New Routes From Five UK airports Credit: Great Circle Map In just the last couple of days, easyJet has launched two new routes from Newcastle Airport (NCL), connecting the city to John Paul II International Airport Kraków-Balice Airport (KRK) in Poland and Marrakesh Menara Airport (RAK) in Morocco. From November 5, it is also starting a new service to Copenhagen Airport (CPH) in Denmark, operating twice-weekly. However, easyJet will face competition on all three routes. Elsewhere, the budget airline has introduced a new service between Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) and Iceland's Keflavik International Airport (KEF). It has also started flying from Manchester Airport (MAN) to Nuremberg Airport (NUE) in Germany, which is Europe’s one of the oldest and most popular Christmas markets. The Manchester–Nuremberg route has been without nonstop flights for several years. According to historical schedule data from aviation analytics provider Cirium, Ryanair was the last airline to operate the route in 2019. The new year-round route operates three times weekly, on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays. Notably, this is not the airline's first connection between Southend and Belfast. It previously flew to Belfast International Airport (BFS), offering up to two daily flights between April 2012 and January 2014. Another addition is the new service between London Luton Airport (LTN) and Rabat–Salé Airport (RBA), which serves the Moroccan capital. The route is scheduled to launch on November 5, with two weekly flights The new service will join the two other Moroccan destinations the low-cost carrier currency serves from London Southend: Marrakesh, with five weekly flights, and Agadir, with three. It is the only airline offering direct flights to Morocco from the airport. Overall, this winter, according to Cirium data, it is offering about 33 weekly flights to Morocco from London area airports. easyJet Will Launch More UK Routes In The Coming Weeks Credit: odecam | Shutterstock Looking ahead, the low-cost carrier has several more additions planned from the UK, including new city pairs such as Edinburgh Airport (EDI) to Tromsø Airport (TOS) in Norway, which is a popular destination for seeing the Northern Lights and enjoying winter activities, and SEN to Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport (SSH) in Egypt. The airline is also expanding its UK network to Budapest, Hungary, with three new routes scheduled to launch later this month. From November 17, it is launching twice-weekly flights from Bristol and Belfast International, followed by twice-weekly services from Liverpool from November 19. Further ahead, easyJet will launch its first international service from the Isle of Man Airport (IOM) on December 19, connecting the island to Geneva Airport (GVA) in Switzerland. The new route will operate once weekly on Saturdays, and will be the only direct connection between the Isle of Man and Switzerland. The British Crown Dependency has previously had scheduled flights to the city. According to historical schedules, the now-defunct Flybe last operated the route in 2020 using its De Havilland Canada Dash 8-Q400 aircraft.
