On Monday’s episode, Denise begins to struggle to breathe. The doctor tells her that she has sepsis and warns her of the dangers. They then drop the bombshell telling her that she will need to be brought into intensive care right away to help her to breathe. But a distraught Denise and husband Jack are left frantic at hearing that she will be put into an induced coma. Fearing that she might never wake up, a tearful Denise asks: “What if the sepsis get worse? What if I don’t wake up?” The doctor advised her that it was a possibility, but only a small one. But the news becomes too much for Jack and Denise as they break down in tears. Later in the episode, Denise refuses to see her children as she fears it will break their heart. With Denise fearing her days are numbered, Kim then delivers some surprising news, revealing that she has found her sister’s long lost brother. Sharing the unexpected discovery with Jack and Chelsea, Kim exclaims: “Darnell Larson Jr. He’s a potential stem cell match. “Denise has a brother! She has a brother!” Last week, it was revealed that two new arrivals were set to join Albert Square as part of Denise’s family. Denise, played by Diane Parish, has been a staple of the BBC soap since joining in 2006. Fleabag alum Christopher Colquhoun has been cast to play Denise’s unexpected sibling, Darnell Larson Jr. As the clan discover Darnell, they are also introduced to his daughter Grace (Krysstina Frempong). This shock family reunion takes even more significance when Darnell learns about Denise’s cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment.
