EastEnders confirms major Cindy twist that will have hellish outcome for Max

Max Branning (Jake Wood) will rue the day he ever thought it a good idea to cross Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), who made an almighty discovery that is sure to seal his fate. For decades, EastEnders fans wondered what it would be like if Max and Cindy – two troublesome titans of the BBC One soap who enjoyed various eras and yet never overlapped – were to ever cross paths. Their wish was granted late last year when the two were introduced to one another – and it really was everything we could’ve hoped for. The duo were electric on screen together and their penchant for causing destruction and chaos made them one another’s perfect match. As a result, it wasn’t long before a wedding was set in motion. After years of wrong relationships, were Max and Cindy finally on the cusp of happiness? Sadly not as Max was soon up to his old tricks, embarking on a scandalous affair with colleague Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy). What’s more, he’s fighting feelings for ex Linda Carter (Kellie Bright). And given the amount of cheating scandals he’s found himself the centre of over the years, that really is saying something! Walford’s resident lothario collapsed mid-speech, just as he was about to end things with new bride Cindy. He was rushed to hospital, where he was told he’d had a heart attack. Cindy, meanwhile, predicted what Max would say as he regained consciousness in his hospital bed – and her worst fears came to pass. Cindy was devastated and stormed off. The reason for Max deciding to end things with her was because he’s in love Linda, who told him that she felt the same way. Will Cindy retaliate? But flash-forward six years and Linda reckons she’s in love with Max, telling him such a thing at the hospital. Back on the Square, a heartbroken Cindy exited her cab and broke down on the street, with Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) accidentally putting her foot in it when she revealed the truth about Max’s dalliance with Priya. If history has taught us anything, it’s that no-one exacts revenge quite like Cindy so will she go out of her way to destroy Max now that she knows about his betrayal? And if so, just how far will she will go? A flashforward episode earlier this year confirmed that Max will be walking down the aisle again come January 1, but to who? That is the question. The other question is whether or not Cindy will play a role in destroying his so-called happy day? If she’s not the bride on New Year’s Day, will she instead decide to wreak havoc for Max, whose next wedding day will seemingly be even more eventful than this one? Either way, it’s safe to assume that Cindy is will strike back – and we wouldn’t want to be Max when she does!
