Like many equipment brands, German forklift maker Jungheinrich has been struggling to crack the Asian industrial markets – but the company is set to change all that with the launch of a new line of 1.6- to 3-ton class electric forklifts designed specifically to navigate the region’s tight warehouses and factories. Jungheinrich launched the next generation of its EFG MB and MC electric counterbalance forklifts, giving businesses more flexibility to match truck performance with the battery options, charging systems, and operator features that meet their specific needs. “Different operations have different requirements,” said Lisa Jing Xue, Managing Director at Jungheinrich’s Qingpu Plant, China. “With the EFG M series, customers can configure the (forklift) truck around their application, workload and operators – whether they need greater maneuverability for confined warehouse spaces, or a stable, powerful truck for demanding transport and stacking work.” Forklift buyers can choose between two performance packages, prioritizing energy efficiency for everyday material handling or more driving and lifting muscle for more demanding, high-throughput operations. The higher-performance package comes standard on models rated for 2.5-3.0 tons, with a choice of either lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries with 346 or 690 Ah of capacity available to suit different workloads and shift patterns. Both ship with regenerative braking tech that can recover up to 30% of the energy used in stopping and lowering loads, too, helping to keep these machines running longer between charging sessions. A slim B-pillar and glass roof help visibility in busy warehouses, while the four-wheel EFG MC gets automatic cornering speed reduction as standard. Integrated telematics are also standard, giving fleet managers access to utilization data, maintenance planning and pre-operational checks from day one. Jungheinrich says the order books for both the three- and four-wheel electric forklifts are open now, ready to be supported by the company’s 6,000+ person strong service network across the Asia-Pacific region.
