Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3 has crossed the Rs 400 crore mark worldwide in eight days. The investigative thriller collected Rs 14.50 crore in India on its second Friday, taking its worldwide gross to Rs 407 crore. Its next big target is Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which remains the highest-grossing film of Devgn's career.According to industry tracking site Sacnilk, on Day 8, the film earned Rs 14.50 crore across 14,583 shows in India. Its domestic gross now stands at Rs 312 crore, while its nett collection has reached Rs 260 crore. Overseas, the film added Rs 6 crore on Friday, taking its total gross in international markets to Rs 95 crore.Drishyam 3's strong opening weekThe film got off to a flying start, recording the third-biggest opening for a Hindi film and the biggest opening of Devgn's career. Advance bookings opened on September 27, and the film collected Rs 27 crore before its release.The momentum continued through the opening weekend. Drishyam 3 collected Rs 53.50 crore on Saturday, followed by Rs 61 crore on Sunday. By the end of its first week, its India nett collection had reached Rs 245.50 crore. The second Friday's figures suggest that the film is still drawing audiences, even as it enters its second week in theatres.Can Ajay Devgn's thriller beat Tanhaji?The next milestone is a personal best for Devgn. His 2020 historical drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior finished its theatrical run with a domestic nett collection of Rs 279.59 crore. With Drishyam 3 at Rs 260 crore nett in India, the gap between the two films has narrowed considerably. The thriller will need to sustain its box-office run to overtake that figure. Its worldwide gross of Rs 407 crore, however, already marks a significant milestone for the franchise.Directed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam 3 picks up after the events of Drishyam 2 and brings Devgn back as Vijay Salgaonkar for one final time.
