THE new Dream Team season is just around the corner and it’s important managers consider all their options. Here we have identified five value-for-money strikers capable of healthy returns if everything clicks. PLAY DREAM TEAM NOW: £100,000 PRIZE POT! Calvert-Lewin has rediscovered his best form at Elland Road Credit: Dream Team Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£3.5m) Leeds’ No9 scored 15 goals last season following his free transfer from Everton. Sign up for the Football newsletter Thank you! A physically imposing target man, Calvert-Lewin has looked sharp during pre-season and is expected to lead the line for the Whites and remain first-choice penalty-taker. Daniel Farke’s side have been ultra competitive in the Premier League since the German tactician switched formation and their early fixtures suggest there may be points to be had before the European double Gameweeks become a priority. Leeds are due to face Nottingham Forest (x2), Brentford, Brighton, Newcastle and Crystal Palace before the first international break. Igor Jesus (£3m) Nottingham Forest’s striker bagged 16 goals in all competitions last season. And while just six of Jesus’ goals came in the league, a double-figure return in the top flight is perfectly achievable this term. Crystal Palace players earned more than their fair share of points on their way to FA Cup and Conference League triumphs under Oliver Glasner and so Dream Team bosses will be expecting useful returns from Forest’s top performers now the Austrian coach is in charge at the City Ground. Most read in Football Few would have raised their eyebrows if Jesus started at £3.5m so he should be considered affordable at £3m. Madjo produced an eye-catching performance against PSG, including a goal, in the Super Cup earlier this month. He may be just 17 years old but with broad shoulders at 6ft 4in tall he already appears ready for regular Premier League action. Ollie Watkins (£5m) is the Villains’ main man but rumours about his future still linger and supporters expect Unai Emery to make extensive use of Madjo’s talent this coming season. Come Christmas, his starting price may seem laughably cheap. Brian Brobbey (£3m) Sunderland’s No9 is a nightmare to play against and his combative style has yielded impressive results in recent times, including three goals in four outings for Netherlands at the World Cup. The Black Cats start their campaign with league games against Ipswich, Fulham and Brentford — Brobbey will fancy his chances of a fast start. From mid-September, Regis Le Bris’ side will compete in the Europa League and while the busy schedule might prove challenging, the additional fixtures could yield useful returns. A real handful for defenders Credit: Shutterstock Editorial Charalampos Kostoulas (£2.5m) Another punt that is probably too risky for Gameweek 1 but a situation to monitor closely. Georginio Rutter (£3.5m) is the man most likely to lead the line for Brighton following Danny Welbeck’s (£3.5m) exit but the general consensus is that the entertaining Frenchman is more effective at No10. The ex-Leeds man is not a prolific goalscorer and so he may come under pressure from the pair of young Greek strikers who reside at the Amex. Stefanos Tzimas (£2.5m) suffered an ACL injury on his first Premier League start and is still striving for match sharpness so Kostoulas could get a lot of minutes. If the 19-year-old makes the most of his opportunities he could be a real gem at £2.5m, especially if Fabian Hurzeler’s men win their Conference League play-off and qualify for the league phase.
