DPWH chief Dizon to testify in graft trial of Zaldy Co, others

Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon (FILE PHOTO) MANILA, Philippines — Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon will testify in the trial of former lawmaker Zaldy Co and his co-accused on graft charges in connection with alleged anomalous flood control project in Mindoro, the Sandiganbayan said on Wednesday. READ: Co’s co-accused puts doubt on DPWH’s thoroughness in inspecting project Associate Justice Maryann Corpuz-Mañalac made this announcement as the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division heard testimonies from two cashier officers of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan). Article continues after this advertisement “As agreed upon, let the presentation of the next witness in the person of Secretary Vince Dizon proceed on September 23, at 8:30 in the morning,” Corpuz-Mañalac. Corpuz-Mañalac also said the next witness’ judicial affidavit has been submitted online to the court. READ: Dissenting view: Bonoan removal as co-accused questioned In November 2025, the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division issued arrest warrants against Co and his co-accused from the DPWH and Sunwest Corporation in connection with a P289.9 million road dike project in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, which was flagged as substandard and found to have structural deficiencies.
