He argues developers can manage AI, opposes extra regulation, and insists on not shipping unsafe products. The industry keeps moving: Nvidia bought Hugging Face for $12.93B; OpenAI launched GPT-6 Astra and called it the AGI era. The AI doom and gloom has been really kicking into high gear lately. Just a few days ago, I covered a story about a former Anthropic researcher who put AI's odds of "killing all humans" above 10%. Never fear, though, because Jensen Huang, Nvidia's leather jacket-wearing CEO, says that artificial intelligence will not destroy humanity by the end of the decade. "I completely disagree that AI will destroy the world by 2030," said Huang in a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning (via Tom's Hardware). "I believe the claims of the end of the world, stirring fear across America, and doing it by people who are doing it makes no sense to me. So, they must be doing it for ulterior reasons. Maybe it is political, maybe it is otherwise, maybe it is just attention-grabbing... However this is characterized, 2030 is not going to be the end of the world. There is 0% chance that is going to be the end of the world." Nvidia's CEO dismisses the Anthropic employee's bold claims about AI Huang's emphasizes that companies shouldn't release AI products that are unsafe Huang is directly responding to Evan Hubinger, the former Alignment Science Organization Lead at Anthropic, who claimed there is an over 10% chance that AI could destroy the world in the next decade. Huang adds that AI can be managed by its developers and that government regulation beyond what already exists isn't necessary. He also emphasizes that companies shouldn't ship products before they're ready and proven safe. "We should go as fast as we can, irrespective of anyone else. But we would never ever, and never should, ship products before they're ready and deliver products that are unsafe," said Huang. While Huang's comments could be viewed as reassuring, he clearly also has Nvidia's interests in mind. The tech giant has made AI the center of its business, and the technology's success is key to its future. Additionally, more government regulation surrounding AI would slow its development and, in turn, Nvidia's growth. In a recent blog post, Anthropic outlined that "full recursive self-improvement" could result in "humans losing control over AI systems." This has happened recently when an OpenAI model breached Hugging Face back in July. In an X post, Coxon calls the Hugging Face incident a "warning shot." In other AI news, Nvidia recently acquired Hugging Face for $12.93 billion. OpenAI also recently launched GPT-6 Astra and labeled it the start of its "AGI era."
Don't worry, Nvidia's CEO says there's a "0% chance" AI destroys the world by 2030
