With Diablo 4 no longer getting paid expansions and Diablo 5 not releasing until 2029, fans have been left a little in limbo, itching for an all-new experience, yet lacking any tangible release they can get excited about. Of course, this isn't terribly uncommon in the world of video games, and there is the controversial Diablo: Immortal to keep those in desperate need of more Diablo content entertained for the foreseeable future. However, for those averse to gaming on their phones, or those who want a more robust Diablo adventure, Immortal isn't enough. What may prove to be more than enough for fans is the upcoming Diablo game, Diablo: Unbound. This is a new game, something that revitalizes the series by approaching it from a different angle. While it won't be for everyone's tastes, Diablo: Unbound aims to bring the complete Diablo experience to your tabletop so that you and your friends can continue collecting as much loot as possible while slaying demons long after the PC monitors have been switched off. While Diablo 4 proved to be an enormous success, it does seem like Diablo is entering a whole new era with the next mainline installment. This major shift positions the series to become something a little unexpected, which is perhaps a good thing, as it feels as if fans are ready for something a little different. Should that prove to be the case, then Diablo: Unbound should have little trouble finding fans, as the brand-new tabletop adaptation of the acclaimed video game looks primed to be a truly exceptional experience. Diablo: Unbound is one of the many new Diablo projects releasing in 2027, and it is already looking like the most exciting of the bunch. Developed by Glass Canon Unplugged (the same folks behind Dying Light: The Board Game, which recently raised $1.5+ million on Gamefound), Diablo: Unbound is as faithful an adaptation of the core Diablo experience as one could imagine. It offers a dungeon-crawling experience for between 1 and 4 players in which you must adventure through iconic locations, fighting monsters, gathering loot, and improving your skills before taking on a boss. In Diablo: Unbound, you'll choose from a range of classes to craft your own unique hero, who, through gaining new skills and gear, can become a truly powerful force to be reckoned with. You'll then select a dungeon and a group of enemies (both of which have a large selection taken from across the Diablo series), and finally the boss you'll be working towards defeating. Of course, once you're set up, Diablo: Unbound plays out like a typical Diablo experience, albeit with cards, miniatures, and dice. The game is set to be released in Q1 2027, although it is first being crowdfunded via Gamefound. You can follow the campaign now to get the Gamefound Exclusive Treasure Goblin Expansion for free, and there will likely be assorted versions that you can choose from when the campaign eventually opens to the public. Of course, should you not opt to back it, Diablo: Unbound will be available through retailers when it launches, so you can still pick it up then. Regardless, this looks set to be a one-of-a-kind Diablo experience, the likes of which will hopefully appeal to fans.
