Designer Kelsey Randall has revealed what it's like working with the likes of Taylor Swift, Lizzo and Hilary Duff, saying you have to be flexible and prepared for things to go wrong One of the hottest trends on social media right now sees Hilary Duff fans trying to recreate some of her tour looks, with Kelsey's star dress (pictured) going viral after Hilary wore it Brooklyn-based designer Kelsey has designed several looks on Hilary's tour and over the years has also collaborated with the likes of Taylor Swift (pictured in her dress) and Lizzo Kelsey added: 'You know, things go wrong. I spent three hours this morning on the phone with FedEx because Suki Waterhouse's pieces are stuck in customs in London.'The last day of her fitting for the tour is today so it's not going to make it. But we have to come to terms with it, we've been working on this problem for days, it's just not gonna make it.'It's a bummer, but you can't ever get too excited about the prospect of any one placement because it can totally fall through the cracks.'I have plenty of custom pieces that we urgently made for a celebrity that they "just had to have, and it had to be there that day," and everything was approved, and then they never wore it! 'So you just have to throw a bunch of stuff at the wall, and some of it will stick. You can't be too proud or too precious about any one thing.'It's definitely heartbreaking, but you have to roll with the punches.'Sometimes setbacks can also lead to success, with Kelsey explaining that her famed star dress, that Hilary Duff sent viral after wearing it on tour, was designed seven years prior. Explaining that she's made peace with the fact not all success is instant, she continued: 'You have to believe things are going to happen the way they're supposed to and at the right moment.'Discussing working with Hilary, Kelsey shared: 'It's so fun being able to design for her for this world tour.'It started with an email from her stylist because she had seen my glow in the dark star dress on Pinterest of all places and she said it was exactly what they were going for.'It has that idea of nostalgia, but it's a glammed up, grown up version so she reached out to me and asked if I had any other ideas. 'It's just been such a wonderful collaborative process with them. It's been really fun because she and Hilary are both very supportive of my crazy ideas!' Kelsey's latest project is a new creative partnership with Kurt Geiger, marking the beginning of an ongoing series of capsule collections that unite two of fashion's most expressive cities Kelsey said: 'The first collection, we wanted to do something that was really my vibe and honoring my hometown, which I consider Brooklyn, so it's this idea of Brooklyn meets London' She added: 'I have been such a huge fan for ages. 'Their Kindness Foundation, helping to get young people into the fashion industry, and to get jobs within fashion, and, you know, they're just so, like, inclusive, the support of the queer community....'It's definitely a pinch me kind of moment, because there's actually not a lot of, you know, larger brands that have such a strong social impact.'The Kelsey Randall x Kurt Geiger collection launches on September 16 at kurtgeiger.com and in selected Kurt Geiger stores, with prices starting from £29.
