The Australian pop star confirmed she wouldn’t be bale to compete on the show this week after sustaining a rib injury in training that’s already put her in hospital twice. Instead, she’s watching at home and weeped after hosts, Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe, and Josh Widdicombe paid tribute to the Lost Without You singer as they opened the show. After introducing all of the contestants by the names of the icons they’d be impersonating, Emma explained Delta’s absence to viewers. She began: ‘Before we get started you might notice there is one couple missing. Sadly, Delta has suffered an injury and on the advice of the medical team will not be dancing this week under the rules of Strictly she receives a bye through to next week.’ Get personalised updates on Strictly Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro’s TV Newsletter. It’s been a rough week. Love you guys!’ Ahead of tonight’s performances, Delta shared another message with fans promising she is determined to recovery as swiftly as possible. Delta has been top of the leaderboard on Strictly Come Dancing (Picture: PA Wire) She said: ‘Hello everybody! I just wanted to say hello before Strictly starts, I’ve got my little seat ready and I’ve been recovering. ‘I promise I’ll share more over the next couple of days, it takes a while to get not a positive mindset when you have a setback and you just need to be able to process it and work out what the body is saying and how we continue to move through this but in the meantime I’m very excited to see the amazing talented class of 2026. I’m so exited to watch them do their iconic performances tonight.’ She added: ‘I’m sorry I’m not there for this one but I’m giving it everything I’ve got to be there next week.’ Deals of the Day See London's Christmas lights from an open-top double-decker bus this winter My skin always suffers when the heating goes on but this serum changed that The skincare formula that finally took the guesswork out of my routine Families can save up to 20% on summer 2027 holidays in Club Med's four-day sale Cold mornings are coming and this is the dressing gown I want to live in Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow night on BBC One.
