Delhi Uber driver owns two flats, earns Rs 80,000 in rent. He still works because...

A Delhi Uber driver told a passenger he still works long hours despite substantial rental income and a past heart attack. An Uber driver's story of hustling even after having a heart attack has gone viral. (Photo: Instagram)Most people would consider earning Rs 80,000 a month in rental income enough to slow down. But for one Delhi Uber driver, work is no longer just about making money. It is about proving to himself, and to those who once gave up on him, that a heart attack did not define his worth. The interaction was shared on Instagram by Aastha Seth, who said she struck up a conversation with the driver during her ride. What she learned, she wrote, left her reflecting on resilience, dignity and the determination to keep moving forward.According to Seth, the driver is originally from Bihar’s Samastipur and had been working at a relative's factory in Delhi, where he earned a good living. However, his life took an unexpected turn after he suffered a heart attack last year.Instead of receiving support during his recovery, he was allegedly told he was "of no use" because he could no longer perform physically demanding work and was asked to leave the factory. But rather than letting the setback define him, he chose to rebuild his life on his own terms.Seth revealed that the driver owns two flats worth around Rs 80 lakh in a residential society near Noida Electronic City. Together, the properties generate approximately Rs 80,000 in monthly rental income. Despite having the financial means to stay home, he continues driving an Uber from 10 am to 10 pm, earning an additional Rs 50,000 every month. Watch the video here:"He had the choice and still has the choice to stop, rest and stay at home. But he chooses to work as an Uber driver... just to show those people that his heart attack doesn't make him useless or worthless," Seth wrote. She added that the driver has saved both flats for his two daughters and also owns ancestral property in Bihar."This 5 minute interaction with this man made me stop and think so much about life. He's such an inspiration for all of us who just need one reason to stop and quit," she wrote. The story has resonated widely online, with many praising the driver's perseverance. "Keep going uncle," one user commented, while another wrote, "Boss you are real hero."For many, his story wasn't simply about earning more money, it was about choosing purpose, self-respect and perseverance over comfort.- EndsPublished By: Srimoyee ChowdhuryPublished On: Jul 19, 2026 16:14 IST
