Courtesy: BCCI WomenDeepti Sharma’s outstanding run in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup has been rewarded with a significant rise in the latest ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings, with the India all-rounder climbing two places to sixth.Deepti has picked up eight wickets in three matches in the tournament, playing a key role in India’s unbeaten run and qualification for the semi-finals. Her rise comes at a significant time, with India occupying two positions in the top 10 of the bowling rankings through Deepti and teammate Sree Charani.Charani has retained the No.1 position with 779 rating points, while Deepti is within 60 points of her India teammate. Sophie Ecclestone, Charlie Dean, Nonkululeko Mlaba and Lauren Bell are positioned between the two Indians in the latest standings.Deepti’s latest rankings rise is also notable given her history at the top. She first became the No.1-ranked T20I bowler in December 2025 and has continued to remain among the leading performers in the format. The 27-year-old has also added another major milestone to her career during the Asia Cup. Deepti became the leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20Is, going past Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong. She now has 176 wickets from 152 matches, underlining her longevity and consistency in the shortest format.The spinner has been particularly influential in the Asia Cup. In India’s opening match against Thailand, she produced remarkable figures of 3/0, becoming the first Indian bowler to take three or more wickets without conceding a run in a Women’s T20I. She followed that with another three-wicket haul against Hong Kong, China, conceding only nine runs.MANDHANA STRENGTHENS HER POSITION IN TOP 5 Smriti Mandhana has also strengthened her position among the leading T20I batters following her impressive Asia Cup campaign. The India opener is currently ranked fifth with 744 rating points in the latest ICC rankings.Mandhana’s position was boosted by her remarkable 124 off 64 balls against Hong Kong, China, which helped India secure a 137-run victory and seal their place in the semi-finals. The innings featured 14 fours and seven sixes and was her second T20I century.The knock also brought historic milestones, with Mandhana moving past Mithali Raj to become the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket with 10,880 runs. Her century also took her tally to 18 international hundreds, the most by any woman batter.With Charani retaining the top bowling spot, Deepti rising to sixth and Mandhana holding fifth among the batters, India have enjoyed a strong presence in the latest T20I rankings.
