Sign in to your TheGamer account It hasn't been long since Deadlock officially announced City Never Sleeps, a new patch bringing countless gameplay improvements, dozens of new features, and 6 exciting new heroes to look forward to. While the voting period has only been going on for a few days so far, the scurrying Rat King has already managed to claw his way into first place to be added to the game. Available to play right now (if you can beat other players to it), the Rat King offers an incredibly stylish playstyle that revolves around using his rodent subjects to debuff and damage enemies, while also benefiting his team with an area-of-effect ultimate. Everything We Know About The Rat King's Kit With a ranged rifle as a primary weapon, the Rat King's first ability is the Scrap Grenade, which throws out a bouncing projectile that explodes several times, dealing bullet damage and slowing down any enemy within its radius. The Scrap Grenade can be meleed to knock it away. The Rat King's second ability sends out a swarm of smaller rats that will jump onto any enemies in their path, dealing spirit damage over time and reducing bullet resistance while afflicted. The more rats latch onto a single enemy, the faster these effects will apply, although players can shake them off by dashing on the ground or in the air. The third ability for the Rat King is a defensive one that lets him don a barrier based on his max health, allowing you to survive longer and offering a chance to deflect bullets back to your attacker. The Rat King also notably has a passive that lets him use the same tunnels as Rem underneath the map. The final ability included in the kit is The Rat King's 'Ultimate Rule, Ratannia!', which sees the hero charge forward until you click to slam down a large flag providing allies with additional move speed, slow reduction resistance, and damage resistance. After slamming, a large eruption deals bullet damage over time while applying knock-up and slow to all nearby enemies, both from the sewer itself and the rats that charge out of it. The News Isn't Exactly A Surprise While the Rat King has received glowing praise from players both for his unique kit and incredibly flavorful character design, the fact that it was chosen for the first hero in City Never Sleeps isn't exactly much of a shock, as the hero was already overshadowing the rest both in online impressions and within the community itself. While it's somewhat less obvious who the next hero arriving alongside all the other features in City Never Sleeps, Baba or Solomon seem to be the most likely for the next runner-up, but it's still anyone's game at this point.
