DC Unveils The Scariest Artwork Of Gotham City Ever

Published Oct 27, 2026, 1:27 PM EDT Jared is a writer, editor, and Communications Studies graduate who loves popular nerd culture (almost anything to do with Marvel, DC, Star Wars, or The Lord of the Rings) and the interactive storytelling medium. Jared's first console was the PS1, wherein he fell for Spider-Man, Spyro the Dragon, and Crash Bandicoot. Catwoman may have left Gotham City following the events of DC Comics’ Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War event from a few years ago, but it was inevitable that she’d return, even temporarily, and she did so in Catwoman (2018) #84 earlier this year. Lately, Selina Kyle was embroiled in a conflict with Roman Sionis’ Black Mask and stared down her ex-fiancée across 8th and Fig in Alleytown in Batman (2026) #10. Residing in Gotham once again, Selina had found herself featured in a two-part tie-in arc, “The Ivory Towers,” for DC Comics’ Batman: Bad Seeds crossover event. But while penciler Danilo Beyruth, inker Joe Prado, and colorist Patricio Delpeche’s joint artwork portrays Gotham’s verdant wastes as fantastical and vibrant, not unlike how many of the other books participating in this event have, Seba Fiumara’s gorgeous cover for Catwoman #92 is perhaps the most enchantingly haunting that Gotham has ever looked. Gotham City Has Never Looked More Hellish Lush overgrowth and vines eerily stretch toward a gas-mask-wearing Catwoman, with Alfie “Ash” Hendon clinging to her like a backpack, before a blood-red sky and a full moon in this cover. It’s easily the creepiest imagery of Batman: Bad Seeds’ whole crossover event, and unquestionably one of the best covers to come out of it. Moreover, Fiumara also did the cover for Catwoman #91, which has Catwoman’s mask ears poking out of a respirator gas mask that reflects Gotham’s skyline enveloped by Poison Ivy’s ancient superbloom in its visor and is soaked in red, hazy spores. Batman: Bad Seeds Is Coming To An End If you didn’t know any better, this Catwoman cover could fool you into thinking that Batman: Bad Seeds is a horror-inspired event. Rather, Batman: Bad Seeds has been surprisingly wholesome, with a massive emphasis on charming supporting cast characters who were given their own tie-in crossovers, such as the Gotham City Police Department and Gotham General. Catwoman’s role in this event is over, as is every other DC Comics character who was only tangentially involved in it, as Batman: Bad Seeds concludes this week in Harley Quinn #67, Poison Ivy #49, and Batman: Bad Seeds - Sunrise #1. Batman: Bad Seeds - Gotham General #1 and #2 were struck with delays, and are now scheduled to be released on October 28 and November 25, respectively, meaning that this particular tie-in spin-off won’t be out until the event is already finished. Nonetheless, it’ll be interesting to see how DC wraps Batman: Bad Seeds up following Detective Comics #1114, where the bloom had been successfully subdued by Victor and Nora Fries’ Mr. and Mrs. Freeze’s Engine of Eternal Winter. The solicitation for Batman: Bad Seeds - Sunrise #1 reads as follows: At sunset, Poison Ivy unleashed an attack that transformed Gotham City into a prehistoric nightmare. If she isn't stopped by the first light of dawn, the city will be lost forever... along with all who dwell there. With the clock ticking, Batman and his allies will put it all on the line to save the day before everything changes forever at sunrise. The superstar creative team of Matt Fraction, G. Willow Wilson, Giuseppe Camuncoli, and Cliff Rathburn proudly presents the Earth-shattering conclusion to Batman: Bad Seeds in an oversize special that shows the only thing more impossible to survive than this night in Gotham... is the day. Catwoman #92 is out now.
