Sign in to your ScreenRant account DC fans have hit upon a perfect casting idea when it comes to Robert Pattinson's prospects in the DC Universe - and, interestingly enough, this ideal casting isn't Batman, despite Pattinson's history in the role. Robert Pattinson has received some considerable praise as DC's current main on-screen Batman, thanks to the actor playing the lead role in The Batman film franchise. A combination of Pattinson's talented performance in The Batman, hype for the 2028 release of The Batman 2, and the actor's overall popularity means conversations about how Robert Pattinson could appear in the interconnected world of the DCU - and whether he could play Batman in the new cinematic universe - have been rife for the past few years. Plenty of other DC roles have been suggested for Robert Pattinson, but his latest movie trailer has unveiled one prominent fancasting for the actor. Excitingly, this casting is one that aligns well with Pattinson's talents as well as the DCU and its trajectory itself, meaning it's a perfect storm that would arguably work better than having Pattinson be the DCU's Batman, since the world of The Batman is ostensibly too dark and without superpowered characters to match the DCU, and having Pattinson play two different Dark Knights might be too confusing. Robert Pattinson's Constantine Fancasting Would Be A Perfect Call For The DC Universe While Robert Pattinson is of course currently best known as the central titular star of The Batman movie series, his latest movie trailer for upcoming film Primetime has sown the seeds around another promising fancasting for the actor. The trench coat and overall look of Robert Pattinson while playing media presence Chris Hansen in Primetime has led to fans proclaiming he'd be an ideal candidate for the DCU's Constantine, a beloved DC hero whose role as a detective, exorcist, and magician has placed him in many of the franchise's most interesting supernatural stories. Constantine's jaded but well-intentioned personality, habit of being one of DC's wittier characters even when in dire straights, and history of ending up over his head frequently due to his moral compass and desire to help others means both that he'd be a perfect addition to the DCU, and a perfect casting for Robert Pattinson in the on-screen franchise also, since the actor's filmography shows he's able to nail every aspect of what makes Constantine so fascinating, and Constantine matches the kind of roles Pattinson has opted for in the past. Casting Robert Pattinson As Constantine In The DCU Would Help Prevent Any Confusion About The Batman Image via MovieStillsDB Casting Robert Pattinson as Constantine in the DC Universe might draw some initial displeasure from those who have held out hope The Batman's version of the character might get tied into the DCU - despite repeated assurances the series will remain its own alternate universe Elseworlds story - but it does seem as though this could be worth it in the long run in order to help make the separation between The Batman and the DCU as clear as possible. For those less versed in the current layout of DC's wider movie landscape, having Pattinson take on a different role in the DCU that also would have him look visibly very different to Batman - with a different name, different personality, and a light trench coat and blond hair - seems as though it could be the best way to clarify the differences between the two movie worlds for viewers who may otherwise find themselves confused or misunderstanding the situation. Given Robert Pattinson seems as though he'd be a perfect fit for the role of Constantine - and the DC Universe would greatly benefit from delving into the supernatural side of the comics more - this fancast appears like a win-win in just about every sense for the movie world, though whether anything like it comes to pass in the franchise will only become clear with time.
