‘Days of Thunder’ Sequel: Anne Hathaway Joins Tom Cruise, Release Date Set at Paramount

Anne Hathaway has joined Tom Cruise for the Days of Thunder sequel, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. A release date has been set at Paramount for June 2, 2028. The follow-up to the 1990 movie will be also filmed for Imax. Tom Cruise will return as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle, while Hathaway will play a team owner and engineer. Cruise will also produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper. Jonathan Levine will direct from a script by Will Staples. Days of Thunder was a reteaming of Cruise with his Top Gun helmer Tony Scott, and is recognized as one of the actor’s most memorable roles.
