Criminals have no fear: AAP targets BJP over Delhi sanitation worker's murder

AAP leaders protested in Kalyanpuri after a sanitation worker was stabbed to death on duty. The killing has sparked demands for an arrest, compensation and a job for the victim's family.Sanitation worker Anil was stabbed to death in Delhi's Kalyanpuri while on duty.The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has attacked the BJP over the killing of a sanitation worker in Kalyanpuri, saying that "criminals had no fear" under the Rekha Gupta government.On Sunday morning, Anil, a 27-year-old sanitation worker employed with Metro Waste, an authorised waste collection company engaged by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, was stabbed to death while on duty."Despite the BJP's four-engine government in Delhi, the morale of criminals is so high that they are easily escaping after murdering anyone," the party said in a post on X.AAP said its demands from the Rekha Gupta government were clear: immediate arrest of the accused, appropriate compensation for the victim's family and a government job for one member of the family. Later in the day, AAP leaders and workers also protested at the site of the incident. Kuldeep Kumar, a party MLA protesting in Kalyanpuri said, "We have been sitting on a dharna for the last 4-5 hours, but no representative from the government has yet arrived here to listen to us."Anil was assigned to a tipper used for door-to-door garbage collection when he was attacked. CCTV footage from the area shows a man approaching him and repeatedly stabbing him with a knife, including in the neck and chest.The attacker then walks away, while Anil is seen struggling to move before collapsing on the road.He was rushed to a hospital but died while undergoing treatment.The killing has also triggered anger among sanitation workers.Members of the Delhi Sanitation Workers Union have announced that they will keep their auto-tippers off the roads from Monday unless their demands are met.Union members said they would visit auto-tipper depots across Delhi to stop operations and are also likely to hold a protest.The Municipal Corporation of Delhi, meanwhile, said it would ensure compensation for the victim's family.
