Country music star says he was fired from Grammy Award winning band by his own sister

A business. A family. A name. My sister wanted her husband to become a member of the band, taking my brother’s place. I made it equally clear that I was not okay with that. By then, the situation I had become about far more than the lineup. I had witnessed instability and broken trust that fundamentally changed my ability to move forward. “Weeks later, I was terminated,” he continued. “The day after my birthday. I never expected that my decision not to participate under those circumstances would also mean losing my financial interest and access to the band’s platforms, resources, and audience I had spent my life helping build. Then I watched a story emerge that didn’t resemble the one I lived. The anger became music. The grief became songs. The loss became freedom.”He also shared a video of himself sitting down in a chair to the music that Netflix uses for its documentaries.“Preparing for my Netflix documentary about how The Band Perry went from three siblings to my sister and her husband,” he wrote. Reid Perry left the band late last year. He announced his intentions on Instagram. “To the fans, you’ve always been my favorite part of this,” he wrote. “I’ve decided to leave TBP. I’ll be missing seeing you in the crowd at a Band Perry show but I’ll be around, managing a new voice I believe in more than anything, Ryan Coleman. For me it was and will always be about making great country music, with and for the hardworking people who love it and live it. Thank you for every memory, I’ll see you back in the saddle. I wish Kimberly and TBP the best as they move forward into the future.”Kimberly Perry posted her support on X. “Reid! Wishing you the most wonderful successes in your new era!” she responded to his announcement. “Love you, brother!”Kimberly’s husband, Johnny Costello, replaced Neil Perry in the group in 2024.The Band Perry formed in 2005, and Parade said the group had its breakout hit “If I Die Young,” in 2010.
