Coronation Street star Jacob Roberts confirms surprise person Kit confides cancer diagnosis in

Kit Green is set to be diagnosed with stage three breast cancer (Picture: ITV) Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is set to get life-changing news in upcoming Coronation Street scenes when he is diagnosed with breast cancer. In recent scenes, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) discovered that the BRCA gene runs in the family, and she is set to undergo testing to see if she also carries it. When Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell) updates Kit, he wonders if the gene could be linked to the health problems he is experiencing. Unbeknown to his family, Kit has already sought medical advice off-screen. ‘He finds a lump, then he goes and gets it checked out. And then I think there’s some discharge from the lump. And then it’s like, “Oh, this is serious”, actor Jacob Roberts explained. ‘He knows something’s wrong. He doesn’t know what it is at this point. He just knows this isn’t normal. So he goes to the doctors and has check-ups and they don’t exactly give him an answer straight away. So he’s in a bit of a dilemma really. He’s concerned about what’s going on.’ Gemma Winter-Brown told Kit that the BRCA gene runs in the family (Picture: ITV) With Gemma and Bernie worried about their own health and the health of Gemma’s daughters, they haven’t yet considered the possibility that Kit could also be affected – and Kit doesn’t want to tell them any different. ‘He really doesn’t want to worry anyone until he gets concrete news that he’s got it and he can gradually tell people,’ Jacob Roberts explained, revealing that Kit initially decides to keep his diagnosis to himself. ‘It must be such a hard thing to tell people. Especially family, because you’re delivering bad news about yourself, but you’re also delivering bad news that they might have it. Brody might have it.’ Ask Metro Use AI to go deeper into the stories you care about – powered by Metro and trusted publications. Though Kit keeps his family in the dark, there is one unlikely neighbour that he chooses to confide in – Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce). ‘I think that happens in real life as well. You end up telling people who are not actually connected with you,’ Jacob pointed out. Kit is overwhelmed by his emotions at Debbie Webster’s speech (Picture: ITV) When Kit calls in at the Rovers in the middle of Debbie Webster’s (Sue Devaney) birthday party, he finds himself overwhelmed by his emotions when she makes a heartfelt speech to Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan). Kit escapes to the backyard, where Todd finds him and asks what’s on his mind. ‘He feels safe with Todd because I also feel like Todd has his back,’ Jacob said.’ He can tell Todd certain things that won’t go further, as it does on the street. It catches like wildfire. But with Todd, I think he’ll keep his secrets.
