Coronation Street confirms culprit who leaves Eva to die – and it’s the definition of unexpected | Deputy Soaps Editor Published September 24, 2026 7:30am Now that really is unexpected(Picture: ITV / Metro) Coronation Street spoilers follow for Thursday’s (September 24) episode that is now available to view on ITVX and YouTube. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 8:30pm. Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) was left fighting for her life after being pushed down the stairs into the cellar of the Rovers Return – by the most unlikely of characters. The pub landlady was already having a bad day, waking up with a horrendous cold that left her feeling utterly miserable. As Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) prepared to head to London with Susie for her audition, Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) arrived with Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan), who wanted to retrieve his phone. There was a bit of confusion regarding where exactly the device was and, with Ben in a rush and Eva poorly, Nick resolved to come back later – much to the dismay of Sam, who reiterated that he ‘needed’ his phone. Nick clarified that he wouldn’t need it while in class, taking his son out of the pub. As the day progressed, Eva’s symptoms got worse and she asked Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) to make her a hot lemon. She refused to work the evening shift, leaving Eva on her lonesome. When Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) was unable to work a shift, Eva was left with little choice but to shut the Rovers for the day. Sam, meanwhile, returned to the pub after it was shut and started looking for his phone. As he chucked things all over the place amid the search, he was rumbled by Eva, who emerged from the cellar with boxes of crisps in her arms. Panicked by her presence, Sam pushed Eva, who tumbled backwards down the stairs and lay unconscious at the bottom. Sam hightailed it towards the door before returning to the scene of the incident, staring at Eva’s lifeless body. Sam is the culprit (Picture: ITV) The question is: will Eva be okay? Subsequent scenes will see Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) locate Eva, who remains unconscious, but she is approached by a group of youths outside the pub, which leaves her confused.
