Coronation Street and Emmerdale dropped from ITV schedules

We can already hear the rumbling… (Picture: ITV) ITV’s soap ‘power hour’ has powered-down tonight, with both ITV soaps, Coronation Street and Emmerdale being dropped from schedules to make way for the football. ITV will be airing England’s Nations League game against the Czech Republic from 7pm. With no room on the schedule for our daily dose of soapy goodness, this means Coronation Street and Emmerdale will not air tonight (Tuesday, September 29). We’re narked off, too! Both soaps will return in their regular timeslot tomorrow (Wednesday, September 30). It’s been a year of soap sacrifice for football, with the World Cup causing constant schedule changes, followed by the Carabao Cup and now the UEFA Nations League, and all tournaments have seen the soaps shunted around the schedules, with missing weekday episodes and the occasional double-up and Sunday special. Corrie is back on Wednesday (Picture: ITV/Danielle Baguley/Shutterstock) The beginning of the week Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) wake up following her violent tumble down the cellar steps in the Rover’s with no memory of who pushed her – easing the pressure of her actual-though-accidental attacker, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan). Weatherfield copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) was out investigating what had happened, interviewing Carl (Jonathan Howard) and Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney), with them being the last two people to see Eva. When Debbie discovered Carl’s wallet was heaving with pound notes, she couldn’t shake the suspicion that he’d attacked Eva while robbing the pub and reported him to Kit. Elsewhere on the Street, Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) continued her insidious mission to supplant her sister, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), while Lucy Parkinson’s (Anya Dewin) emotional outburst while sleepwalking caused them further turmoil. Carl is the number one suspect (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) The next episode of Corrie will see Jodie continue her attempts to become the actual wedge between Shona and her husband David (Jack P Shepherd), when she feigns being stood up on a date and convinces him to share a bottle of bubbles with her in commiseration. Carl finds himself as the number one suspect for Eva’s attack and is taken down to the station for further questioning, all the while protesting his innocence, as a guilt-ridden Sam looks on. After grounding Lucy for her drunken escapade last week, Tim heads to the café, but when he realises there’s a wad of cash missing from his wallet, all eyes fall on Lucy herself as the thief. What’s happening in Wednesday’s Emmerdale? You won’t have to wait too long for your next fix of Emmerdale (Picture: ITV/Shutterstock) This week in Emmerdale started with Kim Tate’s (Claire King) agony at being barred from visiting Joe (Ned Porteous) and Dawn Taylor’s (Olivia Bromley) baby by the former – with his dedication to having the baby adopted unwavering. Hardly his most concerning decision recently, what with him also having buried someone alive, but I digress… Despite her best efforts, she was unable to change his mind, and called in his surrogate dad, Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) to see if he can make a difference. Sadie King’s (Patsy Kensit) desperate search for poor, dead Jimmy King’s (Nick Miles) missing cash brought her into the orbit of the Miligans, and while Caleb (William Ash) was quick to swat her away, Ruby (Beth Cordingly) was much more receptive to her, though Sadie slipped up after a few too many glasses of vino and admitted that, while she was supposedly back with Jimmy, she was actually being swept off her feet by a dashing, rich man named Federico. Graham puts his foot down (Picture: Mark Bruce/ITV) The next episode of Emmerdale sees Graham plant his foot firmly: if Joe goes ahead with the adoption of his son, Graham will walk out of his life forever, in a last-ditch attempt to get him to rethink the life-changing decision he’s about to make. Sadie’s drunken admission comes back to bite her on the behind, when Ruby starts peppering her with questions, and Sadie’s former boy-toy turned co-conspirator, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), tries to convince her to pull the plug on their scheme, lest they get caught. Gabby Thomas’ (Rosie Bentham) health continues to deteriorate, and as she and stepmum Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) come to blows over their business, she begins to cough blood into a tissue.
