He’s tired, you know, of feeling that he’s a criminal. And that’s what he expressed.”Session told WJTV that Pang was attempting to fly to New York to be with his original sponsor and a family friend when he was detained by ICE.Pang, a 6-foot-9 forward, spent last season at Monroe University. He averaged 8.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Pang appeared in 31 games, making 27 starts.WJTV, citing a source, reported that Pang was detained due to a paperwork issue with Mississippi Valley State University.Session told WJTV that he is hopeful Pang’s visa will be reinstated.“He wants to resume going to school. He wants to play college basketball. He wants to be a 21-year-old kid who’s just trying to make a life for himself,” he said.Mississippi Valley State shared a statement with The Athletic about Pang being detained.“Mississippi Valley State University is aware of the situation involving one of our students and is deeply concerned for the student’s well-being,” the university said. “The student is registered as a full-time student at Mississippi Valley State University.
