Cleveland Ballet to perform free 'Ballet on the Lake' Sept. 19

The performance was originally scheduled for July but was postponed because of unhealthy air quality caused by Canadian wildfires.The program will include “Dance of the Toreadors” from “Don Quixote” and “Picnic,” set to Tchaikovsky’s “Dances for Piano and Violin.” The evening will culminate with excerpts from “Swan Lake.” “It is a privilege to share Cleveland Ballet’s artistry with the community in a setting that so beautifully reflects the spirit of our city,” Cleveland Ballet Artistic Director Timour Bourtasenkov said in a statement. “Ballet on the Lake allows us to celebrate both our art form and our hometown, bringing together longtime patrons and new audiences for an evening of dance that is welcoming, memorable and freely accessible to all.” Guests are encouraged to arrive early. Food trucks will be on site, and North Coast Yard’s bar and small-bites menu will be available for purchase. Admission is free, but reservations are encouraged.
