The three leaders arrived in Delhi from Mumbai on Saturday morning (October 10, 2026). Police personnel entered their aircraft shortly after it landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and detained them before they could disembark. The CJP subsequently said that the leaders had been taken to an undisclosed location. The CJP had aslo alleged that the detentions were part of a pre-planned move to prevent its leaders from reaching the protest site. Several other party leaders and associates were also placed under house arrest from Friday night, according to the organisation. The police had denied permission for the October 10 demonstration, citing the late submission of the application, alleged non-compliance with conditions imposed during an earlier protest, and concerns over law and order, public safety and traffic management. The provision empowers authorities to issue orders to prevent an apprehended danger or disturbance, including restrictions on gatherings in specified circumstances. The restrictions formed part of wider security measures intended to prevent protesters from assembling at the site despite the denial of permission.Section 126 of the BNSS provides for requiring a person to execute a bond to keep the peace in specified circumstances, while Section 170 empowers the police to make preventive arrests when they know of a design to commit a cognisable offence and believe it cannot otherwise be prevented.
