‘Chucky’ Creator Taunts Nicki Minaj After Rapper Posts AI Photo of Doll Wearing ‘Vote Red’ Badge

Wanna play? Nicki Minaj at Amazon MGM Studios’ film, 'MELANIA' World Premiere held at the Trump-Kennedy Center on Jan. 29, 2026, in Washington, D.C. Craig Hudson/Variety Nicki Minaj may think that she and Chucky are friends ’til the end, but the creator of the iconic horror movie character begs to differ. After the rapper shared what appeared to be an AI-generated image of the red-haired doll sporting a pink suit and a “Vote Red” badge — her way of encouraging fans to cast their ballots for Republicans on Election Day — filmmaker Don Mancini clapped back by setting the record straight on how his character would’ve actually voted on Tuesday (Nov. 3). (You know, if murderous children’s toys could legally participate in elections.) “Chucky has a trans kid,” Mancini wrote on X, sharing a photo of a real-life Chucky doll holding a Glenda figurine. “Chucky protects the dolls. Chucky is anti-ICE. Chucky says ‘A BLUE WAVE’ is coming, as BLUE as my f–kin’ eyes!” Glenda, who sometimes goes by Glen, is indeed a canonical character in the Child’s Play franchise. The offspring of Chucky and his doll “bride” Tiffany, Glen(da)’s gender and expression are fluid in the movies — something many conservatives might take issue with, considering the Republican party’s notoriously intolerant policies on issues such as trans rights and gender-affirming care. “Too bad, Nicki!” Mancini added after Democrats took back control of both the Senate and House of Representatives on Tuesday in addition to winning numerous local elections, resharing his previous photo of Chucky edited with blue hair. “No AI, by the way! #bluewave” Minaj’s love for Chucky goes back years, with the Queen of Rap famously spitting on her verse on Ye’s “Monster”: “And I’ll say, bride of Chucky, it’s child’s play/ Just killed another career, it’s a mild day.” In 2019, she and husband Kenneth Petty — who in 2022 was sentenced to three years’ probation and a year in home detention after failing to register as a sex offender in relation to his 1995 conviction for attempted rape in the first degree — dressed up as Tiffany and Chucky for Halloween. She’s also favored using photos and memes of Chucky on social media over the years, including but not limited to her posts taunting Democrats in the past year or so since she publicly joined the MAGA movement. “HAPPY ELECTION DAY!!!” she wrote on X on Tuesday alongside the AI rendering of Republican Chucky. The hip-hop star hasn’t posted since the results of the election. She last dropped music in 2024, reaching Nos. 23 and 68 on the Billboard Hot 100 with Megan Thee Stallion diss track “Big Foot” and Juice WRLD posthumous duet “AGATS2 (Insecure),” respectively.
